Re: [Nov 21] Atishoo We All Fall Down Reply #15 on January 07, 2013, 11:04:08 PM Sam watched and helped coordinate. That was the main extent of his job at that point. A transparent bubble was enclosed around Sam's mouth and nose, it was a variation on the bubble-head charm. Once he had heard there might be something airborne he had cast it right away. If it affected his eyes he would of been screwed. But it was a chance he had to take, looking cool was an integral part of his job. The collar on his black donkey coat got caught in an autumn breeze and fluttered in his face. He brushed it down and surveyed the scene. The muggles were sneezing and flying around. It was looking like it was going to be a long day. He withdrew his wand from the dump pocket on his coat and walked around. He had helped cast body-binds on all the muggles within the containment zone. Once that was taken care of he'd let the St. Mungos team do their thing. He'd have a long day making sure that when they were released they were properly obliviated. His whisky eyes sought out all the CCTV cameras in the area. He smirked to himself, knowing that they had at that point long stopped recording any of the goings on in the area. Sam Roth never liked the CCTV cameras, they reminded him too much of the totalitarian regimes he was old enough to remember fighting. He strode over to Edwin, doing his best to look as cool as a cucumber. "Looks like our part in all this is almost over ain't it Eddy? We got the puffapods and we got all the muggles on the way to St. Mungos. A couple of mind wipes later and we're good ain't we? Gotta leave all the detective stuff to the boys on level two," he paused and looked at Jacoba, "How are you doin miss."Sam's eyes strayed away from his boss and the woman he was talking to. They found the rabbit that was at Edwin's feet a moment ago. He wasn't sure if the thing was under the spell cast at it or not. All the same he thought that having that thought alone was pretty strange. He was sure a rabbit wouldn't be able to resist a spell from a capable Ministry wizard. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette. Then he remembered the bubble charm and slid it behind his ear. There was something strange afoot and it rubbed him the wrong way. It didn't matter though, it seemed to Sam that their job was almost done. All of the rabbits Jacoba had encountered (granted, it wasn't many), tended to vanish the moment you saw them. Even if you were a single person sitting quietly in an otherwise empty field. Here they were in the middle of massive, frantic chaos and the rabbit was hopping around with the carefree attitude of a Disney critter. Momentarily surprised and confused, Jacoba found herself distracted by the creature until Edwin's voice drew her attention back. "I am," she confirmed. "A couple of boys. Two of them are already-" Jacoba's answer was cut off by the sudden appearance of a handkerchief over her mouth. She took hold of the handkerchief but quickly held it out to Pete. Given the circumstances, protecting him seemed the priority. Pete eyed the handkerchief warily - with no means of understanding anything that was going on, even the most mundane of items had the potential to be suspicious. But, after a slight, preliminary sneeze, the boy clapped the handkerchief over his mouth. "They gonna ... mummify me, too?" he asked Jacoba, glancing wide-eyed over his shoulder towards his two rigid mates. Having overheard Aisling's comments and request, Jacoba stepped away from the two of them, gesturing for the lad to stay with her. "The ... medics are here. If the sneezes get explosive, they may have to sedate you. But, it's absolutely temporary." Luckily, in muggle London plastic bags were all too easy to find - most public rubbage bins had extras at the bottom. Reaching between the current liner and bin, Jacoba grabbed the wad of extras at the bottom and returned to Aisling and Edwin, holding them out. "A couple of mind wipes later and we're good ain't we? Gotta leave all the detective stuff to the boys on level two"Despite the newcomer's otherwise cordial greeting, Jacoba cast the man a suspicious scowl and raised her hand in a keep away manner. "Keep your wand away from me. I'm not to be included." She wasn't really thrilled with the idea of Pete, Danny or Andy having their own histories stolen and rewritten but there wasn't much she could do about that. Not here, at least. Slowly he realized that he recognized the woman who threw her hands up at him. On more than one occasion Sam had wandered into Reducto Records. The Senior Obliviator made it a habit of keeping files on as many muggles who were involved in the wizarding world as possible. It seemed to him that if a small scale magical breach were to happen it would probably stem from those cases. He kept the files as quick reference, and would swing in from time to time posing as one person in another in these peoples' lives. Sam wasn't one for draconian laws, but he was one to stay on top of his job. Jacoba was number one on his list of people to keep his eye on. She had worked her way deeply into the wizard world, but moved effortlessly back into the muggle world at will. She was practically a walking breach of the Statute of Secrecy as far as Sam was concerned. He probably would of obliviated her long ago if given the go ahead, not out of any malice, only to keep him from having to deal with the headache that threatened to come beating down at his door.Sam ran his hands through his hair, knocking his cigarette to the ground as he did. He grunted and picked it back up, shaking his head the entire time. Now that he realized who he was dealing with things had gotten a lot more interesting. He was after all splayed in all his Senior Obliviator goodness. Just minutes before he'd been barking commands and getting knee deep in it all. He could only assume that at this point his cover was probably blown. He just hoped they didn't literally bar him from Reducto Records, it really was where he liked to pick up music."Calm down. No one is going to do anything that old Eddy here doesn't OK. He's the boss, I'm just a grunt out here. Why don't you let your friend's go see the healers so we can get them all fixed up nice and quick." It had taken him a while to jog around the perimeter, but he felt confident in the area covered. Now... to start rooting people towards a ‘safe zone.’ He stopped in a couple of shops along the way, encouraging people to come to him, quickly jotting down names and keeping a tally of people he found. Those who started to sneeze, he shoved outside in an attempt to stop the whole cafe from starting. “The local authorities are on their way. Just stay put.” The ward had been wrapped around the back of the shops and homes; alleyways were sectioned off to keep people from fleeing and spreading whatever was going on.Finally, he was back outside, meeting back up with Muffet. He pointed to a restaurant a couple of doors down from the cafe, closer to the group of people he had rounded up. “Those who aren’t sneezing, get them inside. Those who have been...” He turned slowly, looking around. “Just stay put.” Body binds were cast to the group Casper had around him, promises of help to come as he assisted each muggle down to the ground. Leaving a couple of mediwitches in charge of his group, Casper walked back towards Edwin. “A perimeter is established, containment nearly done.” Motioning to a nearby healer, he smirked and nodded a greeting to Roth. To Edwin, Casper pointed in the direction of the restaurant and cafe. “I’ll go start the other part of this.” Obliviators were there for one major reason, after all. Shaking the healer's hand, Casper greeted him, introducing himself before encouraging him to come along. Casper and the healer moved in to meet with Muffet. “We’re going to make sure none of these people are exhibiting signs of what we saw out there. Those who aren’t, we’ll take in the back and start cleaning up.” Muffet nodded his agreement, and together they started to work through one after another. Explanations were demanded, and Casper had an easy enough time coming up with one. Flu endemic, possible avian strain that caused the person to knock themselves off their feet. Though it caused some to become fearful, the help of a ‘doctor’ made the majority feel better. One after another were sent back towards Muffet, who assisted them into the back room of the restaurant, and only two of the bunch were placed near the front door, body bound, and invisible face masks placed over their mouth and nose. It wouldn't be her first time being penned up by wizards, always a temporary internment. Beverly thought back to things Drea had written in past letters. The occasions Patricia Pienas had made inquiries at the Minister-tree government place that went nowhere. Hopefully there would be someone who would recognize that while she wasn't a witch, she was the fully informed mother of a trainee witch. But mostly she had bemused expressions and the rant of the guy with the additions to his shoes. Dodging any attempts of spells, Beverly ran back to where Patricia was Body Bound with the rest of the muggles, crawling to the woman's other side. Her black bunny ears were flat with expectation. I’ll go start the other part of this.”"Very good," Edwin spoke brashly, praising his staff, "Department running like clockwork as ever. Knight will take charge of the cover story, Bagman, I trust you and Muffet to be neat in there." The rabbit-thing had vanished, though hearing an exclamation of "A rabbit?!" from the mediwitches over the road, undoubtedly it wasn't far. "There's nobody else who knows of the magical world here is there?" He asked, touching Jacoba on the arm before she moved away. "You were just with unknowing Muggles, weren't you?" No, Jacoba would have known about the strangely sentient rabbit if it was related to her group. "We'll undoubtedly find out at the hospital - no matter my dear."He stepped back from Jacoba and addressed the team in general, amidst the healers and the dashing about."Let's have this street clear - Roth, Bagman, I'll leave you two and Knight in charge here - I'll head to St Mungo's, deal with the first wave of the Prophet. She tossed one large bag stuffed full of the puffapods to the side."Some sort of disease or allergen if anyone asks, I suppose. Something proper will be composed once I'm back to the office." She offered Edwin a nod of appreciation before another, stronger sneeze, caused Pete to rock back on his heels. Time to get the lad over to the mediwizards. "Alright," Jacoba confirmed. "I'll travel with them to St. Mungo's. Just in case." It was still anyone's guess whether she was likely to start sneezing herself. In the event that happened, traveling with the mediwizards seemed the best place to be. She started to turn to lead Pete in their direction when a hand on her arm stopped her. She turned back to Edwin and shook her head. "Not that I know of. Just the three fellows are with me and they don't know. They're expected back within an hour but, as long as they're back before curfew, I'll just ... I'll give them a call. Let them know we stopped for some dinner."
