The lift started to churn twisting and lifting and the pair away from the danger of the dragon as Torquil heard his ginger companion exclaim about a comb she had caught. As the lift started to accelerate towards a tower, Torquil studied the designs on the thing, pulled out his camera, took a picture, and then he suddenly bellowed, "Hah! There's a laugh!" The wizard then pushed his fedora down over his forehead and went to work again as some erratic gusts of tried to flick his hat off.
Though he didn't say it, Torquil recognized that the markings on the comb had the same designs and rune-like groupings as the architecture passing them by, and he realized that the man in the cloak probably knew more about this place than Torquil or his friend knew. It caused the red-head to continue work on the panel as they rose in and around the stacked, tunnels, and bridges and streets that created the maze-like architecture, until they finally parked at the tall tower and into a large and elegant carving of a large jade dragons' mouth. Really, you'd think there were there to become someone's dinner!
The lift stopped at the edge of the dragon's jaw as some drawings and designs rose into an elaborate carving at the roof of the creature's mouth. Torquil moved away from the panel and looked down at the two figures below, only a few blocks away from them but many stories below the red-heads--just a broom mount away. After a quick shrug the man held his hand on his hat and then jumped into the mouth of the dragon and began poking and prodding his tool around the base of the statue's tongue.
"Women!" Torquil said as he turned to Raine, jerking his thumb up towards the ceiling where there was a carving that encircled a little niche that was indented with a line of holes that suspiciously matched the teeth on the comb Raine held, "They could hide a dragon in plain sight, 'ey?" the stone creature roared from down below as Torquil finished his work--a low growl vibrated the entire mouth and the tongue suspiciously began to rise towards the roof of the mouth.
Torquil quickly held his footing and held onto one of the teeth of the mouth, as this statue slowly began to come to life, "Better be quick!" he said to the younger witch with a bit too much excitement.
