Writer’s Block:
Hi, I’m Michael. I’ve been a member of Absit Omen since its inception, though for much of that time I was inactive. I currently play the following primary characters: Minerva McGonagall, Tempest Sage, Elysia Hughes, Elijah Grimlish, Mathieu Vaillancourt, Pandora Puddifoot, Chadwick Blish, and Jacqueline Devereux. My secondary characters are Maxen Whitman and Tipper the House-elf. A few of my characters are deceased: Gawain Robards, Charlie Robards, and William Smythe. I have retired Paetyn Harper and Henry MacLeod. I've also retired Corby Gent, who may be up for adoption if the character creator is interested. I am over 13 years of age and have read the code of conduct (numerous times, actually). Chadwick is a primary character.

Chadwick Theodore Blish
Character's Birthday and Age: June 6, 1987 // 23 Years of Age

City/Country of Birth: London, England

Blood Purity: Halfblood

Alma Mater: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry // Hufflepuff House

Job/Position:

Auror

Wand:

Wick’s wand is made of alder, a most curious of wand woods. Though quite an unyielding stick, it is best suited for protection spells. Though most wand woods tend to match their wizard’s personalities, alder does not – as seen by the flippant and helpful nature of the wizard who wields it. The wand is 10 inches long, with a unicorn tail hair core.

Physical Description:

Chadwick never really hit his growth spurt, and even at 23 years of age, he’s still a bit upset about it. Standing at only four feet, ten inches – Wick is almost never one of the tallest in any room. He tends to make up for that with perfect posture and carrying himself with confidence and thinking tall. He tends to walk briskly, mostly to keep up with longer legs, but it tends to give off the vibe that he’s always rushing. His active lifestyle and career as a dark wizard catcher keeps him fit and trim.

Still relatively new to the auror scene, Chadwick’s childish face has not yet been marred by years of danger and carnage seen through the eyes of a member of the corps. He keeps his hair short and normally leaves it messy and unkempt and his dark eyes are bright and inquisitive – always taking in his surroundings. He’s quite self-conscious about the size of his ears and nose, both of which he feels are just a tad bit too large. Regardless of this, he still had his ears pierced – even if it draws attention, he still wants to look stylish. His lips are pink and full, and when he smiles you can see a small dimple in his chin and a full set of pearly white teeth.

Wick is always dressed for the occasion – whether that be work or play, the youthful wizard believes in always being presentable. He takes hygiene very seriously and enjoys woodland scented soaps. He has a single tattoo, located on his left hip of the auror corps logo he got the first week of his training. Chadwick is normally pretty tan, partly due to his heritage and partly due to religiously applied tanning charms.

Personality Description:

Like a true child of Helga Hufflepuff, Chadwick is quite the grab bag of personalities. He is normally quite kind and helpful – more inclined to play the ‘good cop’ role in most situations. His charm and charisma normally creates quite the first impression on most people, and his unimposing frame makes him easy to talk to. He comes off as quite bubbly and eager, and he tries to always do the right thing – even when the right thing isn’t always easy.

Wick isn’t afraid of hard work, though he isn’t exactly studious. He would much rather be out in the field, doing something he feels is important than cooped up in a cubicle somewhere filing paperwork. He works hard and parties harder – it’s difficult for Chadwick to detach himself from work, so he tends to drown his sorrows in local clubs and bars.

Chadwick is fluid in his sexuality and likes variety in his partners. He’s rarely seen with the same person twice and is afraid of commitment. He would make a very loving and capable partner but he’s afraid of having his heart broken so he keeps everyone at arm’s length. It takes time to get through Wick’s tough exterior, but when one manages he’ll be a loyal friend for life.

Though he prefers words to wands, when particularly incensed Wick can be wicked and ruthless. He is a skilled wizard and quite naturally intelligent. He’s a critical thinker and enjoys putting together pieces to the puzzle – unsolved cases bother him.

History:

Chadwick Blish was born during the golden reign after the first fall of Lord Voldemort. It was a glorious time of prosperity and joyousness, a perfect environment to bring a new child into the world. Wick’s parents were brought together during the terrors of You-Know-Who and the two were married a few short weeks after Harry Potter brought the superior wizard to heel. Chadwick was born a few blissful years later.

Chadwick’s younger years were filled with love and happiness. He was taught at home by his mum – his pop worked for the Ministry of Magic. He knew of magic from a young age and could ride a broom from the time he learned to walk. Harry Potter was a common name in his household and Chadwick would grow to idolize the wizard in his youth.

The young wizard had dreamed of attending Hogwarts from the time he was able to say ‘Hogwarts’ – but his parents were rather nervous allowing him to attend when the second rise of Voldemort became public. They would find however, that for Wick’s first year of schooling – attendance to Hogwarts was mandatory and Albus Dumbledore was dead.

His first year at Hogwarts was one of Chadwick’s darkest times – and planted the seed in his head that being an auror would be the highest honor. He was sorted into Hufflepuff and was bullied and tortured all year – his housemates were his only saving grace. He wanted to leave but it wasn’t allowed, and even owls sent to his parents went unanswered. When Harry Potter returned and the battle of Hogwarts began, young Wick was ushered out with all the other youngsters.

When all was said and done – Chadwick returned home to his parents. After a summer full of counseling and overbearing parents, Wick returned to Hogwarts with much apprehension. He would quickly find that under the leadership of Headmistress Minerva McGonagall Hogwarts could be quite different. He grew to be a talented young wizard and joined the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team in his fourth year as seeker. His small stature made him a perfect candidate and though he wasn’t the best player in the school, he was still quite good.

In his fifth year Chadwick was made prefect and his dreams of becoming an auror were finally up for their first obstacle: OWLs. He was constantly stressed – between prefect duties, quidditch practice, and studying for exams, Wick had very little time for anything else. In the end all his hard work paid off and Chadwick passed all his examinations with E’s and O’s.

In Chadwick’s seventh year, another surprise came in the form of a new badge: he’d been made Head Boy. Though honored, Wick knew that NEWTs were much more difficult than OWLs, and two months before the tests were to be administered, stress landed the Hufflepuff a two night stay in St. Mungo’s.  He returned to the castle a changed man and dedicated the rest of his time solely to his studies – going as far as to resign from the quidditch team.

Upon graduation, Chadwick immediately tried to enlist in the auror corps but failed the initial evaluations. Devastated, he took a job in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes as an Obliviator-in-training. Wick couldn’t stand the job, but remained for two reasons: to pay for his flat and because he had found love. For two years the young wizard trained, unhappily, in the proper removal of one’s memories – all the while being courted by a fellow trainee. Like most workplace relationships, it didn’t last.

Eventually the Hufflepuff alumnus reapplied to the auror corps and was accepted into the ranks of the trainees. For three years he trained tirelessly in detecting and detaining dark witches and wizards and has only recently been promoted to full-fledged auror.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them:

Chadwick is an auror, meaning it is his job to protect the wizarding and muggle communities at large. He works with other members of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement as well as collaborates with other departments. He takes direct orders from Senior Aurors, the Head of the Auror Corps, and the Head and Deputy Head of the department. He helps with training for new recruits, pushes paperwork, and works in the field. His primary duty is to investigate crime and detain wrong-doers.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field:

Chadwick obtained top-notch marks on both his OWL and NEWT examinations and has two years training in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. He has also gone through the three years of mandatory training to become a member of the auror corps.

Provide a short summary of your character:

Chadwick is a proud and loving man, who has problems showing it. He is a staunch do-gooder, but that does not imply that he is prudish or not fun to be around. He’s talented with his wand and is great at his job. He gets along with most everybody and can find empathy for those he can’t.

Character Name: Chadwick Blish

Character Age: 30
Character Occupation: Healer - Spell Damage

Why did your character change occupations and what qualifications do they have?: It had always been Wicky's dream to become an Auror, and he worked incredibly hard to make that happen. After spending a few years on the job, however, he realized that catching criminals just wasn't the right path for him.

Chadwick had some minor training in first aid healing as part of his Auror training and had training in mind magics during his brief stint as an Obliviator. In 2013 he began training at St. Mungo's and finished his training in late 2016.

Character History 2013 - 2017:
In 2013, Chadwick Blish left the elite ranks of the Auror Office to begin training to become a Healer at St. Mungo's Hospital. It was an unusual choice, considering how hard he had worked to earn his badge, but after five years in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement he had to accept the fact that he just wasn't any good at chasing criminals. He enjoyed the investigative aspect of the job and loved being in a position to help people, but the other parts of the job - the captures, the stakeouts, the duels and destruction - just wasn't for him.

On Valentine's Day 2014, Chadwick Blish met Pentameter Puddifoot and the two began dating. It quickly grew serious, and the two became inseparable. Wicky spent some nights at the Lovehaus, but most evenings the young couple preferred the privacy of Wicky's flat at Dragon Towers. During that time, Wicky grew close to the Puddifoot family. Not just Tam's siblings, who were all three incredibly wonderful people, but also Tam's cousin Dora - owner of Puddifoot's.

2015 passed without comment - Wicky spent his days at the Hospital and his nights with his boyfriend. He had problems with Tam's issues with amortentia, but it was a small thing to deal with in exchange for the love the half-veela and he shared.

In 2016, Tam and Wicky finally called it quits on their relationship. They had given it one hell of a try, but they'd been growing apart for a while and Wicky had come to realize that Tam didn't want Chadwick, he just wanted to be loved. He wasn't sure if Tam loved anyone other than himself.

Wicky, not one to hold a grudge, moved on. He threw all his focus into his work at the Hospital, churning all that angst and heartache into his training. He finished his training at the end of the year and was assigned to the Fourth Floor: Spell Damage, where he's been steadily working since.

Summary: The past five years have changed quite a bit for Chadwick Blish. He fell in love, had his heart broken and then healed. He quit being an Auror and became a Healer at St. Mungo's specializing in Spell Damage. The only thing that hasn't changed about Wicky is his flat on the same floor as his best friend Grace Eddy.
