[December 28th] I'm Gonna Getcha [Erin] on February 17, 2013, 12:31:10 AM Spellpunk main floorRoughly 11:40 PMWaverly had a curfew; like every other sixteen year old witchling out there. She was currently forty minutes late for said curfew; but given her spat with Zora earlier in the day she could hardly be buggered to care. Having cleared a rather late night with one mother, when the Auror asked her when she'd be home Waverly had contemplated saying she'd be back when she got back but instead ignored the dark haired woman and let the door slam behind her as she took the steps two at a time to get away from to cozy little row house. She was in such a rush to get out the door she didn't even bother to grab her jacket - which would prove to be a rather inconvenient mistake once she reached her destination. She'd spent almost an hour in the queue because it was boy's night but it would be worth it once she got inside and could dance until her muscles stopped humming with a steady strong irritation she had yet to shake. She had at least had the good sense to wear pants, she couldn't believe some of the barely there skirts girls were sporting as they waited to get in! Her bangles clinked and chimed as she rubbed her upper arms, standing on her tip toes trying to see to the door. There weren't any familiar faces in line but she wasn't too fussed. She just wanted to dance at this point. Trying to skim by the bouncer was useless; her face was regular enough around the club that the door man literally ruffled her curls and told her to enjoy the water. It was like everyone in the universe was trying to push that last button and make her pop off. Still, once she was inside the pulsing, thrashing bodies brought a sense of calm over her. It was slow at first, a hard beat that was instantly recognizable as The Golem Collective, long before Selena's voice filled the club. Whatever annoyance she had felt slipping away as her favorite single sent shivers of movement through Roh's body, arm raised over her head as she joined in the rhythmic jumping, abdomen rolling as the other limb slid around the neck of a tall enough blonde. It was only when he turned to face her that she realized she knew this blonde. He was her housemate, "Harper"! Even full as it was, it was better than his own. The Trishnas didn't try to make him talk or be social if he didn't want to, they just left him alone. He liked that, though it did lead Gigi to making bitchy comments about his lunar cycle. Even Oliver and Schlagenweit couldn't ruin the fun he'd had playing video games holed up in Gigi's room all break.'Course sometimes Gigi didn't want a teenage boy taking up space in her room, and Erin had decided to go out tonight rather sit in the den. He actually quite liked clubs because they didn't involve talking either. He was sure they'd get even better once he was able to drink. In a mass of people, he felt involved but without any pressure. Girls came and danced with him, and all he had to do was watch his feet. When the throb of the crowd pushed Waverly close, all he really saw was a cloud of curly hair, some girl taller than him (surprise) who threw an arm around his neck - like he was going to complain! - then the lights flashed again and he caught sight of her face. "Roh?" he asked, the loud thump of the music stealing his vocalization so he was just left mouthing her name at her in the dark. He looked her over without thinking about it, face still etched in an expression of surprise. It shouldn't have been one - people from Hogwarts came here all the time. Still, seeing any of the Slytherin girls out of uniform and in club wear no less knocked him for a bit of a momentary loop. Erin, like most boys of Slytherin, could be a complete tosser; but in a sense Waverly understood why. She couldn't imagine having a brother like Landis Morgan, let alone having to live with him and forever being under his thumb - though when put into that context she supposed their Head of House probably didn't do that really. He probably only paid attention when Erin brought negative attention to the house - which surprisingly he had done less of this year and actually been rather brilliant as a Champion. Still, she could sympathize; the whole reason she was out tonight was because she was hacked off at the single most fumbling mother in the universe. "Should I be looking out for one of your psycho exes to shank me or something," her voice was teasing and just barely audible over the pulsing music and din of the large crowd. She glanced around quickly (mostly looking for the most craziest of spurned lovers that also had a penchant for violence) upon not spotting Razzy or a Gigi she cocked an eyebrow, "Where's Trishna, thought you two joined at the bony hip," she bumped the side of his pelvis with the more rounded edge of her hip, giving him a playful wink. She knew he wasn't much of a talker, and it wasn't as though the dance floor was an ideal place for conversation anyway so she didn't exactly expect any kind of answer. Really she was just happy there was someone easily recognizable who could also move decently (she'd seen proof of this at the Yule ball) and those dances were old and terrible! The night's DJ must have had a soft spot for the Golem Collective too because the next song happened to be one of their first big hits and Waverly almost squealed, "Come on! This is my song". She laced her fingers with Erin as she pulled him deeper into the throng of people, her curls almost quivering with the beat as she threw her body into the music. The other great thing about Erin (besides the whole not having to be hyper vigilant and protect herself from the threats strangers could bring) was that he was nearly the same height as she was. Waverly liked being tall, she joked about being an adopted Amazonian Princess; but sometimes it was nice to have a dancer partner that didn't fall at a strangely awkward eye level. She spun away from him but kept her fingers tangled with his, tethering herself to her housemate as she waited to see if he'd be able to keep up. "None of them are here tonight," he half-said, half-shouted over the music. She jokingly looked around the crowd, and it was only with a conscious effort that he kept himself from looking around too. He hoped none of them were here tonight. Razzy still had the gall to look like he was contemplating the death of anyone he saw Erin with (which naturally meant Erin had been sure to play up how much he'd enjoyed dancing with Carys at the Yule Ball a few weeks ago), but it was still the sort of thing Erin had to prepare himself for. Like, mentally. Her next words had a little bit more meaning behind them. Whether Waverly had put it there or not, Erin had been around girls enough to recognize that kind of trap. Even if she was more... playful about it than Kitty would have been, he knew enough to shrug as if unconcerned. "Think again," he said, and relaxed enough to answer her wink with a lopsided, boyish grin. She wound her fingers with his and pulled him deeper into the crowd, throwing her head back and grooving out without any hesitation about how she might look. Sometimes Erin thought he was the only one who worried about stuff like that. Girls certainly never seemed to. She hadn't let go of his hand and now she was looking at him too, a little slyly, waiting for him to catch up. Erin hurriedly started dancing - when she spun out from him in an elegant whip of hair, he tugged her gently to spin back in in a move so classic even he knew it. Merlin, that nutter must'a terrorized your life," Waverly nearly cackled, head thrown back as she laughed. It was hard, in some respects, to feel really sorry for Harper in the whole Razzy situation. If there was anyone who had walked around with a giant floating sign above his head saying crazy tosser here it was the most randomly placed Hufflebutt she'd ever met. Boy was scary possessive, which was the point when it became hard to laugh at Erin because being in a relationship where the other person didn't seem to recognize you were a separate person from them was potentially really psychologically damaging. Still, Roh wasn't good at like...feelings in this instance; she was better at being distracting so when she found her person near his again she teasingly whisper-shouted, "Don't worry Blondie. I think I could take him. Sam taught me how't hide a blade in my hair when I was but a wee fourth year," so that was completely untrue - but it did sound like something Travers would know about, and to be fair her hair would make a great hiding place; especially when she left it down and wild. Who needed hair brushes (besides her most every other day of the year)?! She couldn't be sure if she noticed hesitation on Erin's part to just throw himself into the music; but it seemed to take him a moment to assess the situation. Roh just wasn't like that; she dove into things (sometimes foolishly), life was too short to worry about what stupid people thought. Besides it was basically impossible not to throw one's self completely into a G.C. song in the sixth year's estimation. Selena's voice, her lyricism, it just spoke to Waverly. She was, admittedly, a little surprised when he was sassy back about Gigi and pulled a rather old school but still impressive spin out of his hat. "Oh, someone's got hidden corners, I might have to go exploring sometime," she grinned at him like the Cheshire Cat, eyebrow arching, "but it's more impressive if you know how to dip; think you can handle that Harper"? It was all in good fun, unlike Kitty Li there was no ulterior motive than having fun behind anything Waverly did. If she ever became interested in Harper she'd just be upfront about it. The thing that made the game fun was that it wasn't real, there were no stakes so no pressure; and bonus the boy could actually move a little. However uncomfortable and unhappy Erin got to see him now, what they had had was not something he liked other people commenting on. Everyone did it, everyone, but they hadn't dated him. They weren't allowed to comment. Even with pretty Waverly smiling and dancing close to him, once she moved beyond generalities his first instinct never changed. He wanted to snarl at her, "What d'you know about it? with all his hackles up. It simmered in him suddenly, a thunderclap of annoyance as she pursued the subject. So he just didn't answer, trying instead to smile at the thought of a girl with knives in her hair.He laughed for real when she teased him about his hidden corners. "I could probably manage it," he said, and hoped to Merlin it wouldn't turn out to be a lie. He tried anyway, he tried really hard, and though it wasn't nearly as smooth as his twirl he didn't drop her, at least, and that was the important part. Bloody hell, was he glad for Quidditch coordination. Maybe a little bit for the Yule Ball dance lessons too. Skip to next post
