Hogwarts Quidditch at Absit Omen is set up so that writers who want to have Quidditch-player characters have the opportunity to role-play about Quidditch and play in matches.  We want everyone who wants to be an active Quidditch player to be able to play!

How will the teams be chosen?
Only the Captain will sign-up/apply for the spot.  Otherwise, all team spots will be determined in-character.  There may be more players on the team at a given time than there are spots available. 

To join a team, your character must participate in team threads, like try-outs and practices.  Captains will be required to hold at least one Quidditch Team thread every two in-character months.  Teams will work out in-character and among themselves who would play each position. 

Who will play in the matches?
Characters who have role-played in a Quidditch Team event will be given priority when choosing their position in the matches.  The rest of the position will be filled by any other interested characters.

Rosters will be kept on the wiki.  Anyone may add their character to the roster with their preferred/usual position if they have been active in a team thread. 

How Will Matches Be Played?
A schedule will show when matches take place in-character.  We'll pick and choose which matches to play out.  The scores of the other matches will be generated randomly with extra points awarded for in-character things like well-attended practices.

The written matches will be pure role-play and the outcome will not be pre-determined.  Writers will be expected to take turns, write cooperatively and be good sports always.  The goal is to write exciting matches, not really winning or losing. (Characters might have different goals, of course!)  The matches will be facilitated by a Curator (likely Hooch/Sarah).  The Curator will PM with the Seekers to determine when and who catches the Snitch.

Notes

• There will be plenty of room for all interested characters to play in matches - in the past we have rarely even been able to field a full team.  There will be space if you are actively interested!
• The starting roster may change as characters become active or inactive.
• If there are more ready-to-go players than spots for a match, we will organize a way to use injuries or substitutions so everyone can play.
• For the first few matches, no visiting students will be on the teams.  If we find there is space, we'll fold them in as interested.
• For teams without a captain, Hooch will facilitate a practice. But if there is not an active captain, please be encouraged to apply!
