Wizengamot Approves: Consensual Vampire Feedings
by Temperance Cartwright
12th October 2012
The legalisation of consensual vampire feedings was announced late last night, in a joint press release by the Winzengamot and The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Despite heavy debate since the initial proposal in July
[1] the Wizengamot has finally come to an agreement.
Although the law - and its consequent regulations - will come into effect immediately, paperwork still wears the crown.
Consensual feedings will only be authorised through Ministry-approved establishments, such as vampire-wix restaurants or vampire covens. These establishments will maintain a record of its licensed feeders and respective patrons, to ensure the safety of both. A record of consent will also be maintained. Failure to do so will result in termination of Ministry-approval.
Vampires must not only be registered but must also provide a bite mark as part of the licensing procedure. Only experienced vampires (with over ten years of vampiric 'living') will be elligible. All applicants will be subject to an interview and background check.
Interested wixes are asked to contact the Division of Beings if in doubt of an establishment's license or approval status. Patrons will be responsible for seeking the appropriate tests and examinations after a feeding.
"Hopefully this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between wixes and vampires," comments Department Head, Balfour Spectre.
"As long as all parties are careful and considerate, I don't see why we should not all benefit."Others have proven to be more critical.
"It seems like a real test of inter-species relations," argues Solomon Carstairs, Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
"But it's us humans who bear the brunt of a failed test."Thoughts, opinions, rants? Owl in your responses to this controversial new law!
