8pm, Friday night
Hopworts Brewing CompanyHopworts was quickly becoming known as a chic and progressive sort of place and a favorite of Athena Marrowbone. She was more of a wine witch, but the Filius Flitwit and it's citrusy goodness was among the better beers there. Tonight, she was out with friends -
Talisha Crowe, and
Wilhemena Gunn. Three was lucky for witches after all, and Talisha provided balance to Wilhemena's flowery aire. She, like Athena, had a Flitwick in front of her.
It was their second round and like the first, Talisha initiated a toast with her McGonagale. "To all who haunt us, may they be good company."
Wilhemena's laugh was twinkling; Athena shook her head with a pert grin. Something was off with Talisha lately, Athena had noticed, but hadn't pressed. Talisha attracted trouble.
[1] "Here here," Athena said. "You were saying?"
"The
book club," Talisha answered. "You have to come. It's excellent."
Wilhemena tucked a platinum gold curl behind her ear, her wrists jangling with a small stack of hair-thick bracelets. "I haven't got the time, none at all."
Athena leaned forward and clicked her tongue. "Tha' not still seeing that sprog are you?"
[2] "What's this?" Talisha nudged in.
"Wil's been shagging a nineteen-year-old," Athena replied.
Wilhemena sat up smugly, denying nothing. "You're always so crude. I'm having fun."
"It's daft," Athena said. She'd disapproved of it when Wilhemena had first told her months ago. "It can't be serious."
"It's not," Wilhemena said and took a prim sip of her beer. "Although ..."
Talisha widened her eyes and grinned. "They're a doppleganger, some raconteur in disguise."
Athena snickered. Wilhemena clicked her tongue and shook her head. "
No. He's ... getting attached. Little things. Lingering, making plans."
"Oh, Wil, you've led him on," Athena chided.
"I haven't! I've been very clear. Well, I've heavily
implied. Either way, I haven't the energy for that. Like I said." It was only a bit of fun. Three-times-a-week type of fun. Posh dinners and plays type of fun. Arm candy type of fun. All that would end if it became
complicated.
Talisha shook her head. "Should've put it in writing..."
