Yorick Travers

From Absit Omen Lexicon

A thin, brooding man with a sharp nose and receeding hairline, whose eyes hunger for success but whose shoulders droop with continual failure. Often described as childish, hot-tempered and violent, though clearly dominated by his wife and desire to maintain an image of prosperity.

Yorick is the younger of the two Travers' brothers by nearly a decade. As the younger brother, he has always been babied by his parents but also subject to their lofty expectations, which he generally failed to hold up to. Even when his brother went to Azkaban for murder, Alaric was still more successful than Yorick. Despite this, Yorick seems to look up to and respect his brother, though it could be fear and lack of will that drives this affection. He has made many bad decisions thanks to Alaric's influence.

He clearly hates his wife and son, the latter of which has taken the brunt of the hatred, and barely pays his daughter much more attention. For him, Samantha is a means to an end. Unlike Jack, she is pure in his mind and must be groomed to be a good wife for a pureblood husband, so he treats her well in hopes that he can instill his beliefs in her. Thus far it hasn't worked very successfully.

Yorick is the only man Jack can openly claim to hate, even moreso than Vincent, though he does so sadly. Up until his disowning, Jack still craved his fathers approval more than anything. Yorick's obvious betrayal hurt him more deeply than even the wounds his suffered at Carrows hands.
