Ukiyojima
Ukiyojima is a Wizarding island located in northern Japan. It is the ancestral home of the Ōoriyashima Clan and the only island where the endangered Genbu Tortoise can be found. The clan has since conceded much of its official power to public authority, but as its members continue to inhabit the castle, they remain a driving force behind town politics.
The highest point in the island is Mount Ōoriyashima. An extinct volcano, it rises above Hyorohira Forest. Its foothills are known for its population of Genbu tortoises. Ōoriyashima Castle overlooks the town – a view rivaled only by the temple at the top of the mountain.
Ukiyomura
There is only town on the island, and that is Ukiyomura (“Ukiyo Town” for gaijin). A blend of history and changing times, much of it largely retains its original architecture and majestic, gabled roofs, multistory buildings, busy streets and fluorescent signs now light up the skyline.
The town is a popular tourist destination in the spring.
