Tobias Hughes Jr, commonly known as Toby, is the son of Archibald Hughes and Maureen Dempsey. He took his parents divorce quite hard and like many children, often feels it is his fault. Because of this, he tries hard to be mature and a good son. He loves his father and idolizes him, much to Archie embarrassment and worry. Toby has quickly become close to his cousin Linus and enjoys spending time at his house when he is home on break. He is especially looking forward to going to Hogwarts and hopes to be in Gryffindor, though Archie has a feeling that he will land a spot in Hufflepuff.
Toby is a doughy and nonathletic boy who isn't the brightest crayon in the box, but extremely curious, creative and honest to a fault. He does his best to be a good son and big brother, often causing him to get manipulated by his little sister in the process.
Interesting Fact: Toby is obsessed with reptiles, both mundane and magical, and has dedicated an entire wall of his room to cages for them. He dreams of being a dragon tamer when he gets older.
Archie and Toby
Toby and Archie are polar opposites. Whereas Archie is sarcastic, intelligent and secretive, Toby is naive, a bit dim and honest to a fault. While he doesn't do well at showing it, often coming across as overly critical, he does love Toby and wants nothing more than for him to succeed in life. Toby in turn respects and looks up to his father, and tries his best (often with embarrassing results) to live up to his fathers expectations.

At Absit Omen
- When Archie was preparing for an ill-fated date with Maiko Biladeau-Yukawa, Toby is seen to be unnervingly excited and inquisitive about his fathers date. He embarrasses his father by asking why his father would need 'protection' after his aunt Gertrude suggestion Archie make sure he has it.
- In the above thread, Archie refers to Toby as being fish-faced and talks about a weird phase he was going through where he wanted to share a knit hat with his father (As seen in the picture above)
- In a letter to his brother Bertie, Archie comments about how Toby:
- Thought that the prank obituary that was written by his cousin Linus Hughes was legit and that he died.
- Apparently made an excellent argument about ghostwriters and final wishes, but couldn't grasp the idea of satire.
- Wrapped several chocolate frogs into toilet paper mummies, put them on little boats and burned them in their pond, after finding out that Linus' frog had in fact died.
- Genuinely feared that Lucretia Di Luca would kill him when he went to Hogwarts and begged Archie to visit with her to confirm if this was the case.
- Toby is shown to have a good relationship with his cousin Linus Hughes. In this thread, Linus is happy to recieve a bag of joke candies from Toby.
- In this thread, Toby shows both his love of food and intense curiosity. He is seen stealing cookies he is helping frost with his grandfather and sister, and then searching for some 'treasure' under the tables.
