“A dog always returns to its vomit.”

Childhood

As the scion of an exceptionally wealthy branch of a very prestigious family, young Theo never lacked for anything. As a rampant little sociopath, he left bloody handprints on the walls and mangled corpses all over the manor. His governess at the time, Frau Pech, lived in a state of constant horror.

He did make friends, but only one would truly have both his respect and affection: Alexandra Carstairs. Everyone else, it seemed, could go hang, and he demonstrated this by way of an extremely cavalier manner regarding their welfare. After one incident too many, Theo was finally put into isolation. Upon Frau Pech's suggestion, he was taken to a discreet "last resort" facility for "troubled youths", where he stayed for a year. From there he emerged, by all appearances, a changed boy.

As it would turn out, this would not be the case. During his stay Theo had learned—not the error of his ways, but how to channel them more... productively. Gradually his ambition had been matched with foresight; competitiveness with control; and ruthlessness with pragmatism, until he could be trusted to behave in polite company. In time, he charmed nearly everyone he cared to.

More importantly, bodies stopped appearing around the property. Playdates no longer ended in hysterical, traumatized tears. There was nothing left to apologize for, and that was what mattered.

But life never did run smoothly. Not even for one so fortunate as Theo. While he was for his second year at Hogwarts, Madeleine was kidnapped. It was the first time he was moved to strong emotion for someone other than himself or Alex (and family, at that) and the aftermath would provide a crucial (if carefully hidden) turning point in his relationships.

Once the Memory Charm was cast, he grew closer to Madeleine, making room in his priorities for the sister he had once been so indifferent about; meanwhile, his contempt for his parents cemented, pushing him further towards independence. He would never so far as to denounce them, but he became more and more fixated on establishing himself beyond the family name. He entered himself in competitions, contests that would further prove his own worth—his obvious superiority over others; he charmed important personages, so that they'd remember him when he was older—going so far as to net himself a tutor. Although it would be some time before he'd come of age, Theo went on to make his family very, very rich.

Hogwarts

Ambitious, involved, and highly intelligent, Theo stands out among his peers. Formerly a member of Duelling Club, to this day he is Head Boy and President of Potions Club. He has also been a prized TA of Potions Mistress Lucrezia Di Luca, and won several junior-level potions competitions. Overall, he is known to his teachers as a brilliant and capable young man, if somewhat arrogant. But that self-confidence is not without merit; he has achieved perfect OWLs in every subject he has taken and plans to take their NEWTs next spring.

Socially speaking, Theo has been a polarizing figure. His exceptional ability at keeping his hands clean has kept his reputation, if not pristine, then at least technically faultless, but has fostered much resentment among those he has bullied and their friends. Many admire him for his looks, charisma and intelligence, and nearly just as many fear if not outright hate him, for he has used his talents to terrorize with both relish and impunity.

Relationships

Given his personality, Theo usually likes those who amuse him – usually unintentionally – and more often than not respect has nothing to do with this; he is genuinely fond of few, and even fewer appear to return the feeling. As far as anyone is concerned, Alexandra Carstairs is the only person who knows him best, and whom he regards with the same amount of esteem with which he views himself.

A more recent development, Ji-Hyun Jeun, has been a most pleasant irregularity.

He is not nearly so fond of his family—especially his own parents. But there are exceptions, namely his aunt Naila Ferrari and cousins Oscar and Maeve. He is also remarkably fond of his sister Madeleine to an extent that still surprises him.

Wealth

Already quite wealthy to begin with, Theo has padded both the family coffers and his own personal accounts with the profits of judicious investments and numerous patents. As a consequence, he owns property in London, Manhattan, and Vienna.

After his Christmas murder spree, he now owns several businesses as well, including AntiVen Unlimited, Incantation Records, Thunderbolt Manufacturing and The Daily Snitch, under what is now known as Halcyon Enterprises.[1] Others are private assets.

  • The Caspartine: A flying restaurant that travels around London.
  • Castello di Lagorio: A vineyard/winery located in Lombardy, Italy.
  • Wolf & Lamb: A high-end, high-rise restaurant of fine dining. It is due to reopen in June with vampire-friendly hours to appeal to new clientele.

Notable Inventions

Over the course of his young life, Theo has invented several potions—the recipes for which he keeps in a grimoire that can only be opened with his blood. Fresh blood.
