Terra Williams

From Absit Omen Lexicon

Terra Williams is a 42 year old Silver haired 5 ft 7 inch woman with a curvy figure. She is a Ravenclaw Alumni of Hogwarts and is hoping to get a job as a Librarian there after completing an Apprenticeship at Ilvermorny. She is an Animagus in the form of a gray cat with Hazel eyes, and a minor Occlumens that she uses mostly for helping remembering things she has read. Her patronus is cat as well. No, Professor McGonagall does not know these things.

Physical Description

Though young, Terra has silver hair. She stands at a rather regular height for a woman at 5'7" and has a curvy figure. Her eyes are Blue. She enjoys wearing bright colored accessories.

Personality Description

Terra is very shy until she knows someone and then she has a hard time stopping a conversation. This also happens in the case where she finds someone who is interested in the same thing she is.

When working she is rather serious, wanting to protect the books from damage so future generations of students would be able to learn from them as well - though she felt that a lot needed updating.

She doesn't have many friends though - if any - and always feels awkward in social situations. She is an emotional person who can be hurt or offended easily.

History

Terra was born to Ana and Gustav Williams in 1969. An only child, she was sheltered growing up in a household with two working parents. From the time she was young, she would be watched by an older neighbor, named Emil Rontiff, who had a wonderful book collection that she would read every time she visited. Even when she was old enough to be on her own, she would visit Mr Emil and read his books and help him with chores around the house. He did so much for her growing up, she didn't even have to be asked - and refused any type of payment beyond borrowing of a book for a week.

When her parents learned she had magic, it was not a surprise to either of them. While both sets of grandparents were non-magical, or "muggle" as they called them, they were both magical. They feared for their safety during a Wizarding War years earlier and decided to live in the muggle world once they graduated instead.

After that they would regularly visit the Wizarding World. Mostly to Diagon Alley through their fireplace where they set a floo connection to.

Originally Terra thought the culture to be rather Archaic, but over time, and as she got older, she understood that this was their culture. Electronics would not work here, so why would they change a lot of their ways?

As a student at Hogwarts, she was a Ravenclaw who was the odd one out. She wasn't teased like the legendary Luna Lovegood was, but it still was not the most pleasant of experiences. Graduating was wonderful and she took the time to explore a bit of the world, taking advantage of any summer internship opportunities she could take up.

Over the years she worked at multiple Schools, Research Facilities, Government Offices, and City Libraries. She worked in muggle and magical locations, uncaring of the nature as long as there were books. She was lucky enough to earn an Apprenticeship at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry which she recently completed.

It was in a muggle location that she dropped her wand from her pocket and stepped on it! She went to the closest Wand Maker and found a really fantastic one, even better than the one she broke - but she would still miss the familiarity of her original. She was definitely of the mind that Olivander should use more wand cores.

Her parents are both deceased now and she is tired of traveling. Her Apprenticeship is freshly complete and she wants to return to Hogwarts, to make sure no one was left out like she was and to spread the love of books to every young person she could.

As a Librarian, Terra keeps track of the condition of books, the organization of books, adding new books to the library, helping students and faculty find information.

She keeps a charmed book updated with notes on who takes books out, which books are too damaged to be taken out, and which ones were releasing new editions. She receives regular updates from Flourish and Blotts on what new books are coming out and in turn provides the sellers with a list of the textbooks that professors plan on using that year so they could be sure to have enough in stock.

For organization, she did most of it manually, loving the feel of the old bindings on her hands, she didn't trust using her wand in case someone surprised her.

An avid book lover and many years experience in the libraries of many varied organizations and retailers. She is familiar with the charm on the master list and apprenticed with the Librarian at the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She is familiar with both the muggle and wizarding world and feels she would be an amazing support person for all students and faculty alike.
