Tainted Wolfsbane
On January 5, 2009, Ó Móráin Farms issued a recall of all their potions ingredients. However, because of the long brewing time required for Wolfsbane Potion, many batches of the potion were tainted, including liscenced private brewers, illegal brewers that of the Ministry of Magic's Werewolf Registration Offices.
The tainted wolfsbane is essentially rendered useless, and even werewolves who took the potion correctly will transform as if they hadn't taken any at all. This contributes to the attacks during the Ides of March.
Werewolves who injested the tainted potion will transform more rapidly than usual, and have no benefit of any of the Wolfsbane Potion's effects such as keeping a sense of self, docility, or lack of pain during transformation.
