Switzerland
Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a country situated Europe. It is a federal republic composed of 26 cantons, with federal authorities seated in Bern. Switzerland is a landlocked country bordered by Italy to the south, France to the west, Germany to the north, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east.
It is geographically divided among the Swiss Plateau, the Alps, and the Jura, spanning a total area of 41,285 km2 (15,940 sq mi), and land area of 39,997 km2 (15,443 sq mi). While the Alps occupy the greater part of the territory, the Swiss population of approximately 8.5 million is concentrated mostly on the plateau, where the largest cities are located, among them the two global cities and economic centres of Zürich and Geneva.

Swiss magical culture consists of local stories, celebrations, and customs of the alpine and sub-alpine peoples that occupy Switzerland. The country of Switzerland is made up of several distinct cultures including German, French, Italian, as well as the Romansh speaking population of Graubünden. Each group has its own unique folkloric tradition.
Plurs is a small magical village located in the Southern Swiss Alps. It is a renowned holiday destination, with wixes visiting it during the winter for skiing and the summer for hiking and relaxation. The mountains surrounding it are also home to several populations of rare magical creatures.
Dragons, frost giants, gnomes, fairies, dwarfs, imps and mountain giants are all found in Switzerland. The Müller-Guggenbühl (singing fir tree) is sometimes chanced upon by Muggles.
Molybdomancy is most commonly practiced in magic (and muggle) families to celebrate Silvester (New Year's eve).
The watchmaking firm J. B. Yabsley had offices in both London and Switzerland. Cornelius Fudge owned a pocket watch made by this company.
Switzerland has a Ministry of Magic. In the 1980s some members were corrupt.
Heinrich Eberstadt[1] was the Swiss delegate to the International Confederation of Wizards in 1926.
The Strata 4589 broom is made in Switzerland. Colette Wheaton's family owned one.

In 1987 Ignan Storm and Georg Kirchlehner engaged in an illegal duel in Zurich. Ignan later murdered six criminals (paid for by corrupt Swiss Ministry)
Kronos Malvivicus has also committed crimes in Switzerland.
In September 2002 Arianna Trenford assisted in the well publicized ‘Merlin’s hat’ heist, involved in switching the original painting for a fake the day before the annual Timlettel auction in Switzerland. Crime reported by the purchaser of the painting, seller Samuel Timmins was arrested and charged with fraud, and ordered to refund the cost of the painting plus court charges, totalling four thousand galleons and fifty four sickles. The original painting was never recovered.
