Rubeus Hagrid is a half giant and long time staff member of Hogwarts, his home ever since he was expelled after one of his pets (the acromantula Aragog) was framed for the death of a student. As the Hogwarts Gamekeeper and occasional Creatures professor he has extensive experience with the creatures in the Forebidden Forrest. A survivor of both wizarding wars, Hagrid forged strong alliances with Albus Dumbledore, the Order of the Phoenix, Hogwarts School and Harry Potter. He has a half brother, a runt of a giant named Grawp, who he has being civilizing for over the past decade.

In the years following the final defeat of Voldermort, Hagrid decided to reclaim his lost education and sat on his OWLs and NEWTs to adequate scores, his highest relating to Creatures and other nature subjects, making him a more accomplished wizard with his broken wand placed in a pink umbrella. Afterwards he and his brother Grawp decided to travel the world, often working with dragons or at other reserves where their giant strength was of great assistance to handling these dangerous animals.
Before the 2009 term Hagrid was wistful for Hogwarts and returned to the school to be the Care of Magical Creatures Professor. Upon finding that the site of his former hut was repurposed as the Hospital Hut, he spends the fall building a new home in a great hollow tree on the edge of the forest. His famed pumpkin patch and gardens are also moved here and are home to many different creatures he uses for lessons.
