Once an artificer of Diagon Alley – and unregistered werewolf with some questionable morals regarding law and business – Rick used to make a living selling DIY material and creating, augmenting, reusing and repairing by contract and commission. His shop, Donovan’s Commission, Wares & Repairs, can be found on 342 Diagon Alley South, where he lives in a flat right above it with his boyfriend, Leon Faulkner.

Relationships

The youngest of seven in a large but clannish family, Rick was taught to value family and loyalty. What little family he has and the friends he keeps close, he's fiercely protective of– even when they make him want to hex himself in the face.

• Shona Donovan: Rick's eldest sister and alpha, she has a thing about personal boundaries—that is, ignoring them. But despite her faults, she is one of the most caring people he knows. He listens to her only second to their mother.

• Izola Bellamane: The closest thing Rick has to a best friend, Izola knows him best. When she isn't brewing Wolfsbane Potion, she offers glitter, sarcasm, and unwanted advice in abundant supply.

• Dietrich Eisenberg: A drinking buddy and good friend, Rick can sometimes be found idling around The Inkwell.

• Phillip Kinsey: Rick's shop assistant and charity case. He has more or less been adopted into Rick's family, albeit more as a pet than an actual family member. He stays with Rick over breaks.

• Alexandra Carstairs: Rick's harsh, nitpicky, smart ass apprentice. Sarcasm and verbal abuse feature a great deal in their relationship. Rick is secretly proud of her.

• Charlotte St. James: One of Rick's closest friends. Aside from Leon, she is the most serious romantic relationship he's ever had. Although it's been years since their breakup, they've remained close.

• Ira Almasy: The most intimidating of Rick's criminal, and yet reputable acquaintances, she has his compliance in a way others do not.

• Leon Faulkner: Formerly a one night stand, they are now dating. Rick is very protective of the privacy of their relationship, which says more about its progress than he realizes.
