Muhra Glass

From Absit Omen Lexicon

The muhra glass is a rare magical artifact of Persian origin and very difficult to come by. One is known to exist in a Russian museum. Another is in the possession of Thomas Pierce, owner of the Magicarium Apothecarium.

The muhra glass is a fist-sized sphere of translucent material, wrapped and girded in an intricate lattice of brass. It is extremely delicate as even the slightest mar or scratch can ruin the effects to unpredicatable consequences. It must be handled with great care.

The cost of the object exceeds 2,000 galleons, or so it was quoted at last appraisal in 1997. It currently is not marked for sale at the Magicarium - if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

The exact effects of the glass are not known. The rough translation from the Russian Museum is vague and reads: "Persia. One of a kind. Extends the life of phials, philters, brews and draughts by extraordinary means." It is presumed by the Department of Mysteries' Time Travel Investigation & Regulation Bureau to do so by distorting time. Therefore, the TTI keeps tabs on its owner and whereabouts.
