History
Roald Byther, an eye doctor, & his lovely housewife, Cerwen, were a happy Muggle family in the turn of the century living in Wales when their only child, Myrtle Enid, was born. The girl had beautiful raven hair with a sweet albeit shy personality who needed glasses once she was six. Myrtle was the one to pick on & was rightly so, which often meant her coming home crying, much to her parents dismay. They were intending to move but a letter from a place called 'Hogwarts' seemed a way out for their daughter. Myrtle went off happily & was sorted into Ravenclaw: all seemed quite blissfully happy up until her fourth year. A handsome boy from Slytherin named Tom Riddle, one year younger than she, melted her heart but only to have it crushed by his crones who believed in making her life miserable. The taunting increased double fold for the fifth & sixth year, especially by a girl of the name Olive Hornsby when Myrtle was enduring feminine changes.
The insults increased & by near the end of her sixth year, Myrtle wanted to die rather endure Hornsby much longer, but didn't know her wish would come true when Tom Riddle was found in the girls' loo with him. She asked what was going on & the next thing she knew...all was cold as she died. Her parents fell into deep depression, taking the opportunity to leave the UK & moving to the US to forget all about what had occurred. As for Olive Hornsby, who had found the body (as she planned to pick on Myrtle more), she became the target for Myrtle's vengeance. Myrtle continued to haunt the girl until a wedding of Olive's brother & a call to the Ministry. The ghostly gal was made to be a permanent fixture at Hogwarts forevermore, to where she has remained, haunting the girls' lavatory for the most part whilst becoming the tag line of students' (too often) insentitive jokes.
