Appearance: Brown mottled feathers, large shrewd eyes, grey beak. Like all healthy female tawny owls she is bigger than her male counterpart. She has a little tag on a leg that indicates the Hollingbury address if a Reveal Charm is cast on it.
Short Bio: After Arcturus's barn owl Quill died of old age, the Hollingburys got Metis to replace him as their family messenger. She is affectionate and fluffy, and likes to nibble on her owners' fingers gently while making soft 'ke-wick' sounds. However she is basically what amounts to a cat with feathers and has a tendency to take shortcuts through the house. She may occasionally end up in the master bedroom by accident because she's too lazy to fly through the back window while carrying her dead prey (mice or voles usually), much to Mord's annoyance.
She also likes to perch on the backs of chairs and watch people silently. Sometimes she tries to get attention by sitting on whatever the person is using at the time (book, quill, dishes).
She is named after the female Greek Titan who embodied wisdom and cunning.
