Mason Hawkins

From Absit Omen Lexicon

Mason Bradly Hawkins is a simple, intelligent guy, who loves classic books and refuses to fight. He loves comic books and muggle culture and prefers to drive his car, than apparate.

Physical Description

Mason has a brown mop of hair that sits on his head with a mind of his own. His stocky build has put him at a physical disadvantage. Gangly arms hang from his shoulders and his legs are like that of a bird. Thin, and not very fast, Mason was normally left behind in gym class during grade school.

He's a pacifist, so he doesn't attempt to work out, ever. But he eats like a bird so he stays thin as a rail anyways. As his father calls him: 'a bag o' bones'. He wears clothing that only enhances his skinny frame. Baggy sweaters, scarves, ties and flare jeans, high top sneakers and glasses than he wears for decoration.

He wears earthy cologne that makes him smell like peppermint. His chin is covered with a thin stubble from about a week of not shaving. His hair gets tossed into a hat when he doesn't feel like dealing with it. During classes, he normally tries to tame the beast with a wet comb and a bit of finger brushing.

Personality Description

Mason Hawkins is a man of very few words.

Growing up with muggle parents, Mason never knew about magic, and knew no other way of life, so he's a very simple person. He loves reading and comic books. He's very shy, almost to the point that if you were telling a story, he would be listening so quietly, that you would forget who you were telling the story too in the first place!

Mason is used to being picked last, so he doesn't even try to get picked, he normally stand in the back, his nose stuck in a book. He's a fan of classic's and loves to quote them as well. So he uses lots of big words like, 'platitudinous' and 'chivalrous'.

He loves to say what's on his mind, though. It has to be pretty important for him to want to share, or something that could benefit those around him, such as a plan for a group project. He normally will keep quiet though. He's a little afraid to stand up in case he is threatened. He thinks he'll look lame if he backs away from a fight. His pacifist routes come from his gentle nature and he thinks that if he is in any form violent, he believes the world will punish him.

He sees the monsters that other kids become and he refuse to become one. He doesn't believe that words will hurt others because they cannot speak as well as he can. That's why he loves to write poetry. Any kind of poetry. He loves baking and cooking for his few friends, and he's actually quite good at it.

Over all, Mason's a smart, clumsy, quiet kid who loves baking and writing poetry.

History

Mason's parents, Bradly Hawkins and Rayna Cross were college sweet hearts and were married a few years before Mason was born. Mason is an only child and likes it that way. His parents were instantly in love with him when he was born. They weren't making a lot of money working muggle jobs, as a store clerk, and an accountant. But Mason didn't need much. He works every summer at a book store to help his parents financially.

When Mason was nine, almost ten, his powers kicked in. When he tripped down the stairs over his cat while reading. He flopped down the steps and froze, mid-air, just about the ground. His parents didn't know what to do, they weren't religious, so they didn't believe that he was being possessed or anything. Oddities kept happening until a witch from the Ministry came to explain what was happening.

A year later, Mason departed for Hogwarts, his parent were nervous of course, what else can a muggle parent be for their wizard son? The wizard world was so much bigger than Mason had first thought. The sorting hat was a rather scary situation for him, he thought it was going to mind wipe him like the aliens did in his comic books.

Over his years at Hogwarts, he never made a huge effort to stand out, even though he is a member of the muggle appreciation club. He loves Ancients Runes class, and his parents are making him take DADA against his will.

When Mason is home over breaks, he loves to forget all wizarding and pretend he’s a normal muggle like his parents. Even though homework does kind of get in the way of that. For his sixteenth birthday, his parents got him a used Subaru Impreza Sudan Mason adores his car and has named her Angelica. He loves just going for rides during the summer while he’s home, picking up milk at the grocery store, or going to the library, Mason just loves to drive. Mason studied for months over the summer to get his driver’s license, his parents were confused to why, but went along with whatever he wanted and he got his permit early.
