A 'retired' quidditch player for the Falmouth Falcons (he became a werewolf later in life and ended up searching for other work), Kamalei now works security at Lapin. A faithful patron of The Whine Cellar. Six-feet-five bros with Louis Dinklage.
Personality
His personality is as big as he is. Loud and boisterous, prone to telling jokes that aren't as funny as the fact that he laughs hysterically at them. He strives to be calm in the face of conflict, and meditates every day, even if he isn't sure if it's helpful.
History
His parents met when his mum was on vacation to Hawaii. His mother was a pureblood, his father muggleborn. They kept in touch over the years, and eventually tried to have a long distance relationship, meeting once every few months thanks to the international floo. When his mother got pregnant, they decided to get married and relocate to the south coast of Cornwall after he was born. His summers and many winter holidays were spent in Hawaii, visiting family.
Hogwarts was an easy time for him, he was generally well liked and athletic. He played for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team during his last two years of school, and was well known for his strenuous work-out routines. He had never been the strongest of spellcasters, but he was certainly not among the weakest. His favorite subjects were History of Magic and Muggle Studies, both of which he received Outstanding NEWTS in. After graduation, he joined the Falmouth Falcons as a beater, though he would occasionally play as keeper if needed.
However, Kamalei kept his mind sharp-- living in muggle-populated areas of the country and dating a muggle, he contributed writing about muggles to multiple textbooks. Although he wishes he could write poetry well, his nonfiction writing is precise and well-researched. Although he is not well known for his contributions to Muggle Studies, it is an area of fascination and passion for him. His home is lined with bookshelves filled with wizarding and muggle history texts alike, tucked in a disorganized fashion among the poetry. He has read each one of them, and the wear shows.
When he was 29 years old, he was on vacation to visit family outside of Honolulu to celebrate his grandmother's 90th birthday. When walking his cousins home from the gathering, he was bitten and dragged. He managed to buy some time with a leg-locker spell and escape. He retired from the Falmouth Falcons shortly after.
Although his parents know that he is a werewolf, he is unregistered so that they don't have to deal with the cultural stigma over having a werewolf son.
Fun Facts
- Favorite drink is the Slaughtermelon Special from Lapin. He orders it with, "Extra fruit for the extra fruity" and proceeds to laugh at it. Every. Damn. Time. The less alcohol he can taste, the better.
- He made his own wand, with the help of his grandfather.
- Nobody laughs at his jokes more than he does
- Kamalei loves to read and recite poetry, though he's not good at writing it. His favorite poem is "Litanies To my Heavenly Brown Body" by Marc Aguhar

- He dated a muggle for 7 years; he has a strong understanding of muggle culture and the internet. He does not have a phone, but sometimes he goes to the library to update his tumblr.
