Italy
Italy, officially the Italian Republic is in Southern Europe. To the north, it borders France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia along the Alps. To the south, it consists of the entirety of the Italian Peninsula, Sicily, Sardinia–the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea–and many other smaller islands. Italy is influenced by a temperate seasonal climate. It is the fifth most populous country in Europe.
Rome, the capital of Italy, has for centuries been a political and religious centre of Muggle Western civilisation as the capital of the Roman Empire and site of the Holy See. After the decline of the Roman Empire, Italy endured numerous invasions by foreign peoples, from Germanic tribes such as the Lombards and Ostrogoths, to the Byzantines and later, the Normans, among others.
Magical Culture
Witches and wizards from Italy quite often attend Beauxbatons for their education.
In parallel to Muggle culture, wizarding culture also has suffered from the presence of the Mafia. In previous decades the Ministry's Law Enforcement have often preferred to sit back and let criminal groups tear each other apart than intervene.
They wouldn't have to worry about the Aurors - in fact, they were rather doing them a favor, now weren't they? Criminal groups wiping each other out must be an easy job, for them - show up, identify bodies, go home and sleep like the fat pigs they were.

The Mattioni are a wealthy family from Italy, known for their involvement in the black market and organized crime. The canon family of the Zabinis are from Italy.
Cristiano Medici, father of Teodosio Medici, was one of the most wealthy wizards in the pureblood society of Italy. His wife, Ambra Mattioni, was the daughter of one of the most powerful men in the criminal underworld of Wizarding society in the country.
Kronos Malvivicus operated as a criminal here during his life.
Azorma Hyskos reportedly assassinated several prominent families and Magical Law Enforcement Officers while in Italy. She and Ignan Storm were both romantically attached and partners in crime. On February 19th, 1997 they brutally murdered Dolci family members and guests - Adamo Dolci and mistress, Sir Campaniello and wife, Mario Potestio and his brother Franco Potestio. In early February they had duelled Franco Potestio, not knowing his identity. Later that year Ignan was ambushed by Italian aurors. His memories were taken in exchange for his freedom, and his wand was snapped before he was sent out of the country, never to return.
In the 1980s and 1990s Elixa Mordent, James Mordent, Violetta Mordent, Belarius Mordent and Benedick Mordent would often take a summer holiday to Italy to visit their Duerr relatives. In 1988 their trip coincided with a visit from extended family, Camille Storm, Wolfgang Storm and Johann Storm.
In 1996 Lothario d'Aubigne was convicted in Italy for being in possession of stolen goods.
In summer 2008 Dolly St. James and Liviana Wiedman took a trip to Italy.
Darian Morgan makes frequent trips here for business reasons.
Warren Neifion’s mother, the Lady Neifion, was a pureblood, originally from Italy. Warren traveled to Italy many times to visit his mother’s side of the family, and is able to speak Italian.
Honorius Stilicho is a half-blood member of an ancient wizarding family that stretches back to the Roman republic. His mother was Circe Stilicho and his father was William Arthur Georgesson. Although it is traditional to take your father's name Honourius' maternal family insisted that he continue the Stilicho family name continue.

Thomas Pierce met artificer Jeremiah Fredricks in Italy. For five years he learned everything he could from the man, becoming his official apprentice until he died.

Rome
Capital of the country. Potentially the location of the Italian Ministry of Magic.
Birthplace of Claudia Vespucciano. Marcus Vespucciano and Lucia Vespucciano were established within the society of Muggle Rome by the time of Claudia's birth. Her father had secured a position with the Vatican and continued to work there until his retirement in early 2005.

Siena
Ricci de Luca's grandparents have a villa in the countryside of Siena, where Ricci was also born. Lucia de Luca and Carlo de Luca worked in an organic food shop in the Wizarding part of Siena. Ricci would often visit her aunt Marissa Warren and cousin, Storme Warren.
Tuscany
Beauxbatons potential champion, Teodosio Medici lives at Villa Medicie di Val di Sieve in Tuscany.
