Ira Almasy

From Absit Omen Lexicon

Ira Almasy was a criminal liaison who arranged assassination contracts between criminals and clients, in addition to running her own criminal enterpirises

She was inherently sadistic witch with extensive experience in the Moscow criminal underground and a reputation for efficiency. Ira was not known to the Ministry of Magic as a criminal, and lived openly as an aristocratic socialite, until her death. Her interests outside of illegal activity extended to the performing arts and charitable fundraising.

Ira died in April 2011. When her identity was outed to the authorities, she collapsed her entire apartment building (with herself inside) during the Auror raid. It was known to some that she had been ill for many months before the incident.

Criminal Activity

Ira Almasy was one of the central figures backing the Werewolf Games as well as the mass poisonings of Poisons and Painkillers. She also helped Mortimer Gamp arrange kidnappings in Mischief Unmanaged. Her other activities include the Winter Opera murders and the kidnapping of Zel Trumble on a White Christmas.

Ira retained the services of several witches and wizards, including her personal assistant Jebediah Layton (now deceased) and cursebreakerArtemis Childs.

Personal Life

Ira lived at her warded mansion in East London, along the canal, where she entertained most of her non-criminal guests or visiting relatives. She also kept an apartment building in London.

She was a known associate of Balfour Spectre, often appearing with him at social galas and fundraisers. Balfour has gone on the record to claim he did not know of her criminal activity over the course of their relationship.

Ira was a patron of the arts and donated generously to the Royal Opera House. She left behind a significant inheritence to her niece.

Family

She is related to Raine Almasy and is the elder half-sister to the Russian Ambassador to the British Embassy, Kazimir Almasy. Ira was a well-known and respected member of The Almasy despite being something of a black sheep.

House of Atreus

The House of Atreus was a residential building in Knightsbridge, London. Now defunct.

Ira Almasy was its Landlord and it was generally understood that potential tenants underwent a quick interview process through either her or her assistant.

She was known to employ her own brand of Mirror Enchantments in Atreus. This was particularly noticeable in the building's mirrored elevator, in which the occupant's reflections often take on a life and personality of their own, independent of their subject.
