Content Rating

Absit Omen uses the RPG Rating

Language

  • Swearing is generally permitted. However language cannot be used to severely abuse.
  • No derogatory language concerning race, gender, or sexual orientation is allowed, both IC and OOC.
  • Please use extreme language like the f-word sparingly, if at all. This counts for both internal narration and dialog.
  • Sometimes intense situations make use of harsh language appropriate. If this is the case, please mark M in the subject line and include a content note in the first post as to harsh language ahead.
  • Use courtesy and only use M-level harsh language in your private threads; not group threads like classes or meetings, please.

Sexual Content

  • Sexual innuendo and references are permitted. No explicit narration of genitalia or sex acts.
  • Rape, pedophilia or any sort of non-consensual/forced sexual actions are strictly prohibited.
  • Sex scenes are permitted if they abide by the above. Sexually charged, suggestive scenarios, or making out are permitted.

Violence

  • Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit description or in-game narration of violence is allowed.
  • Themes of wanton torture, gratuitous senseless violence, or subjugation are not permitted.

Sensitive Themes

These themes are permitted at AO, but writers should use sensitivity and caution. When these topics are addressed in either a biography or thread, the thread should indicate a content warning in the first post. Be aware that these issues may affect fellow members in their daily lives and should be explored with respect.

Cbox Rules

Absit Omen is happy to host a guest-friendly chat box for the fun and camaraderie of current, past and prospective AO members. We intend for the cbox to be a positive, relaxed, and supportive place.

Language

Explicit language is forbidden by CBox's Terms of Service. Absolutely no vulgar or discriminatory language is allowed, even if it's partially c*ns*red.

Topics and Content

Please keep the topics of discussion friendly and supportive. Ranting, debates, and other controversially charged topics are not welcome in this area. It isn't possible to provide a comprehensive list of discouraged topics, so please be cooperative if someone requests you change the subject.

Personal Issues and Security

We wish to remind anyone using the cbox that it is visible to the public. Please protect your personal information and respect the personal information of others. The cbox is not the place to share very personal details of your life.

Conflict Resolution in the Cbox

Please cooperate with any directions from Curators or Cbox Moderators (whose names are in orange in the cbox.)

  • If you are uncomfortable with a topic being discussed in the cbox...
    • Close the cbox for awhile, or
    • Politely ask that the cbox change the subject.
    • If you are not comfortable speaking up, please contact a Curator or Cbox Moderator, or use the Contact the Staff form. This form allows us to follow up in the swiftest, most thorough way.
  • If someone asks you to change the subject, please be cooperative.
    • Be understanding and change the subject, even if you think the conversation is acceptable.
    • It may be a good idea to send the member a PM to clear up any misunderstanding. An apology goes a long way.
    • There are many reasons a conversation might make someone uncomfortable. If you have concerns about the appropriateness of the topic, speak with any of the Curators.

Mistakes and Warnings

Everyone makes mistakes and we understand that these rules rely on subjective judgement. Corrections will mostly likely come in the form of friendly reminders. Only persistent and severe infractions will warrant any official warning or disciplinary action.

All messages posted in the cbox are logged in an archive accessible by Curators. Repeatedly violating the rules of the Cbox could result in temporary or permanent bans from both the Cbox and Absit Omen.

If you have any questions about Absit Omen or our policies, contact a Curator.
