Howell Bagnold was the son of Minister for Magic Millicent Bagnold. In 1980, soon after his mother took office, he and his brother Cadwallader were attacked by a werewolf while walking home late one night. Cadwallader was killed. Although Howell survived his injuries, when the next full moon rose, it was revealed that he had been cursed to become a werewolf himself.
Howell did not take well to his transformation. He was a sulking, bitter man who spent most of his time locked away in his study, venturing out only for unpleasant encounters with his wife and children. Kurby Bagnold in particular does not remember much of his father save for his horrible tempers and the monthly terror that shook the household whenever the full moon came.
Howell was found dead in early 1985, alone in his study.
