Garrick Ollivander

From Absit Omen Lexicon

Garrick Ollivander Hplink.png is the celebrated wandmaker, considered the best in Great Britain and possibly the world. Nearly every witch and wizard in Britain uses an Ollivander wand, built on the standards of regional magical woods and wand cores of Unicorn Mane, Dragon Heartstring and Phoenix Feather, which Ollivander considers to be the most powerful and stable of wand cores. Ollivander remembers every wand he has ever sold and his knowledge of Wandlore is vast (though he can be biased). Because his fascination is first with wands he can be awkward to talk to sometimes.

During the Second Wizarding War he was captured by the Death Eaters and tortured for information, especially when Voldemort sought a means to overcome the bond his wand had with Harry Potter's. Ollivander was rescued from Malfoy Manor by the efforts of Harry, Ron, Hermonie and Dobby the House Elf.

At Absit Omen

Ollivander has been present, again, for the wand weighing ceremonies of the Tetra Wizard Tournament. Around the time of one ceremony he was asked by an old friend (and then Head of Hufflepuff) Leopold Sandusky to examine the wand of Obderedria Pienas under the belief that it was defunct. Ollivander spent time repairing the wand by realigning the core and adding a second wood for the handle that would patch the problems. [1] Obderedria had to be escorted to the shop to retrieve her wand. [2]

The Quibbler ran an unfavorable article about Ollivander. [3]

He retired as proprietor of Ollivander's in 2015, succeeded by his great-niece Tamzin Ollivander.
