Faustina Grimshaw

From Absit Omen Lexicon

What is known

Faustina had made a donation to the Godric's Hollow church in 1648, in her parent's name.

At the beginning of 2012, Bagnold and team found a sarcophagus in the crypt below the Godric's Hollow church that could have been made for Faustina. Unlike the other sarcophagi, the lid showed an idealized young woman, and an etching on the side showed a row of bonelike runes like the one found on the bone flute and on the Grimshaw's ledger. The 6 runes matched what Bagnold found in his history book. The sarcophagus cracked open when Nemo played the six musical notes:

6 musical notes

Nothing was inside. A tunnel led downwards, and something below stole all the light in the room.

In February 2012, Lorelei Hunt encountered a presence that seemed to mimic her spells and reflect them back on her.

What is unknown (spoilers)

Faustina is the daughter of the original owners of Grimshaw's Tailor Shop. In the 1400s, they made a deal with The Necromancer to save their daughter when she was ill. In return, the necromancer was given control of the shop (and the ossuary underneath). Faustina has been undead ever since, her soul trapped in her decaying body. Every 28 years, Faustina has to participate in ritual murder and replace a body part.

Abilities

  • Ability to patch up or discard body parts as needed. Can only fully replace limbs every 28 years.
  • Since she has been existing between life and death for hundreds of years, she has some ability to communicate with ghosts/pentrals.
  • A special connection to light and song. Uses light and song as lures.
  • Whenever Faustina adopts a body part from a victim, it carries the victim's personality and history, so she gains some sense of their lives before.
  • If someone casts a spell at her, she may sometimes reflect the spell back on the caster
  • Close proximity to her could cause those nearby to feel what she feels

Weaknesses

  • Separated from society, trapped in this existence due to her family's deal with the necromancer.
  • Sleeps or rests for many years, and awakens closer to the 28-year mark, when the ritual must be enacted
  • She feels the feelings of her victims, as if she's holding all of their hopes and dreams and hurt. Has lost her sense of self.
