Ernie sticks to his guns, has a clear view of right and wrong. He is a family man in many aspects with a fear of starting his own. He is a devoted husband, and loyal friend keeping himself true to those he made promises of both his time and priorities. He has a temper he tries sometimes in vein to keep in check but along with his big blow ups he can have big victories as well. Ernie is obsessed with professional perfection and takes it as a shot to his ego when he is the cause of a foul up. Brags when he is successful, and keeps mum when he is outdone by another while internally beating himself up in the process. As an adult Ernie is finding he still has a lot of growing up to do as well as maturing, but he tries to do a little better each day.
Physical Description
Dirty blonde for much of his childhood, as he grew older his lightly blonde loose curls grew darker and straightened much like his father's. He stands about 5'11” in height, taller than his sisters but still about average. His eyes are a light green seen under often heavy dark colored brows. When reading Ernie wears thick rimmed black glasses, this is a condition from reading too often into the wee hours of the morning with poor light. Ernie likes to dress well and doesn't spare expense on comfortable robes for both himself and his wife.
Personality Description
Stuffy, pompous, outspoken, rule abiding, standoffish to outsiders at first. His goals have changed over the years from wanting to excel as a student and son to being a good father and a provider. A bit of a braggart growing up, Ernie liked to boast about his good grades and wanted others to be sure they knew. When he didn't make head boy however it knocked him down a few pegs, and he has since become more reserved around people he doesn't know. Ernie is honest to a fault and loyal to his friends.
Ernie is very family oriented, often taking what is good for his family over himself. The only time Ernie felt he was truly selfish was when he chose Susan for his future life without taking their feelings into account. Even though his father was a little shocked with who he chose to spend his life with, being a non-pureblood he stood firm on the matter and earned his father's respect by showing his determination to make it work. Ernie's mother babies him, often being a pushover when it comes to his demands which gave him an unrealistic expectation of things when he went to school. He was snapped into reality soon enough by his friends and has since grown to give his mother more help since he now sees all the things she did for him as a child.
His sister's are a main part of his life. Elsea and Fia being the two bright eyed sisters married out of Hogwarts to well groomed families were both level headed and knew their place in society. Ernie felt the tug to be well behaved and more like them, but Isobel whom he was closest with tried her hardest to bring him out of his pompous overdone self into the world she lived. Isobel refused all the suitors her father brought to her, and told him she would choose for herself, it gave Ernie the courage to seek the same. He keeps in contact with them owling them at least once a week and they have dinner together every other week or so with his parents.
For as much of a family person he is, Ernie is petrified of having a child of his own. In his eyes he sees his life perfect the way it is, he has a beautiful wife, a nice flat, and a job anyone would be proud to have. For him he holds everything, his job is too busy for him to be a father right now and the idea of children so soon seemed insane. Though he does enjoy being an uncle to boy Elsea's three children; Cora, Dona, and Torin, and Fia's; Elliot and Gene.
While in school he had an obsession with studying for both his OWLS and NEWTS. His work ethic did not waver as he grew older. Ernie studies his manuals often bringing them to bed with him much to the dismay of Susan who tries to distract him with prattling talk about other things when she thinks he is being to serious. Susan can also set off his temper like fireworks when she corrects him, being overly stubborn like he is at times Ernie hates admitting he is wrong or someone can do a task better. Though he knows he shouldn't he sometimes snaps at her only to regret it soon after and apologize sheepishly.
His main problem is he bottles his fears, and anger. With his temper being what it is, he is constantly locking things away until they get too much and things explode. When he is upset, Ernie blocks out the things that matter most and keeps himself quiet seething with the anger he is feeling. Only Susan has a way of calming him and keeping him level headed trying to draw him out of his self imposed exile when things get too much for him.
Still close with his best mates from school, Ernie often writes to Justin, Susan and Wayne to see how they are fairing now that they have all grown up and moved on with their lives. Sometimes he gets nostalgic for the simpler good old days but he would never change what he has for the world.
History
Born the youngest of four Macmillan children. Ernie's parents Brice and Adair, both of pureblood, were matched much like their parents before them. Brice was a strict disciplinarian, while Adair adored the life of a house wife and homemaker. Though he could come off as cold, Brice found an instant attraction to Adair and the two had a strong foundation for a relationship. Within their first five years of marriage they had their three oldest daughters Elsea, Fia, and Isobel. Elsea was first born, two years after was Fia, and finally a year later was little Isobel. Though Brice, who was making his way up in the Ministry of Magic, was constantly busy with work and being involved in with ministry activities but he wanted a son. When Isobel was about to turn two Adair announced to her husband that she was pregnant once more, and though she knew insider her heart she would love whatever child she would have, she hoped beyond all hope to give her husband the son he wanted so much.
On March 6th, 1980 they got their wish when Ernest Riley Macmillan came into the world. The girls decided he was going to be like their little doll constantly fidgeting and trying to fiddle with him as he grew up. Isobel took to him most, they became very close as they continued to age into young adult hood. Ernie was very much his father, in that he was always seeking his approval and hoping that he was doing right by him. Ernie's father taught him the importance of hard work, their bloodline, and the difference between right and wrong. They came from old money, but his father valued hard work and wanted Ernie to do the same. So much like his father before him, he pushed his children to excel and wanted them to have a good strong grasp of the wizarding world and it's expectations of them and their status. So aside from the private tutors and lessons each child took before they went off to Hogwarts they were also taught etiquette to go along with their already jam-packed education. It was his job to raise Ernie so that he would hold a respectable job someday, while he was sure that his three daughters would be married into respectable families.
As a child Ernie kept a lot of things to himself. This was partly because he was always trying to keep a tough outer appearance, big boys do not cry after all. This was something he held onto all the way into Hogwarts, when he started his school career joining his future classmates in line to be sorted. It was shortly after he was sorted that he heard of the famous Harry Potter was in his class, stunned he felt a twinge of disappointment when he didn't make it into Hufflepuff like himself and his newest friend Justin Finch-Fletchley. As the first few weeks of being in Hufflepuff House progressed Ernie found himself coming into his own not only in classes but also with his house mates making fast friends with Wayne Hopkins, Hannah Abbott, and Susan Bones. His days with them were some of the happiest he could ever have dreamed, they worked together and became closer as the years went on.
During his second year Ernie and Justin got into a bit of spat with Harry Potter when they thought he was the heir of Slytherin but later realizing his mistake in judgment Ernie did the honorable thing by making a public apology. Ernie was never one for gossip but when his best friend had been in trouble he got caught up in the mess before he could use logic to see Harry was not the problem. He has since made right by Harry and is less likely to believe rumors spread about him as time went by. It was around the time of the Tri-Wizard tournament that Ernie found himself hero worshiping Cedric Diggory a fellow Hufflepuff. He even stopped talking to Harry for a short period thinking that he put himself in the tournament. Devastated when he passed Ernie unlike the others kept his emotions in check and knew Harry had nothing to do with it because of his previous experiences with the boy who lived. He was one of the few students to believe Harry when he said that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named had returned. The thought terrified him to no end but trying to seem brave, Ernie bottled up all of his pain and fears trying to put on a brave face while all along he thought about it in the back of his mind.
When Ernie made Prefect he became even closer with his female Prefect Hannah whom he already had a bit of a crush on. The two shared a love for Chocolate Frog Cards and keeping things in line. They continued to be close but never anything more. Ernie joined as a member of Dumbledore's Army when it first formed keeping his pact with himself that he would stand behind Harry because he knew in his heart it was what was right. During his time with the D.A. Ernie became familiar with the patronus charm which he became skilled at with much practice. His patronus takes the form of a boar which some of his close friends often joked that it was because of his pigheadedness. The tensions were high in the wizarding world and during this time he found that Susan Bones started to rely on him more to be the rock she needed to weather the storm she had swirling internally. By being there for her, Ernie grew even more fond for his friend to the point where he actually began to care quite deeply for her. Not know what to do about it, Ernie kept the feelings to himself not sure of how to tell her or anyone what he was feeling. With a war raging outside of the very walls of the school, Ernie wasn't able to find where it was appropriate to tell anyone what he was feeling because there was too much chaos and destruction taking residence in the corners of his scattered mind. Worries aside, his grades had always been a strong point for Ernie, a bit of him that he could brag about without question. He made NEWTS in both Potions and Defense against the Dark Arts which he was very proud of. When Albus Dumbledore passed Ernie knew that things would only get worse from there while attending the funeral he looked around at his friends and classmates wondering how many people he would have to lose before this was over.
During his seventh year, Ernie joined the revived D.A. They worked to save those who they could from unjust detentions and scrawled revolutionary phrases on the Hogwart's corridor walls, inspiring hope among the students trapped there. And when the school was evacuated Ernie stood up asking Professor McGonagall about the people who wanted to stay and fight for their school. His willingness to protect all he loved was seen through his friends and schoolmates who felt the same. Together they stood and fought those who came to attack the weak. Ernie and the rest of Dumbledore's Army shot defensive spells and watched after each other though all the different phases of the fight moving wherever they were needed.
When the dust settled on the battle field after the Battle of Hogwarts Ernie was surprised to see Susan coming straight for him. When she kissed his lips there were sparks and the darkness that surrounded him seemed to dissipate. Their relationship blossomed from there becoming more serious with each passing week. Though his father disapproved at first, his son never backed down and he eventually relented giving his consent to the union. Ernie and Susan purchased their own flat shortly after they both turned twenty-one and Ernie already had completed both his internship and his first year working for the ministry as a member of the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad. Pushed by his sister, Ernie finally popped the question when they were twenty-three and they were married the following year.
Since they were married Ernie has gained better standing in the ministry but is still not quite at the level he is satisfied with as usual always shooting for the stars. He is quite content with his beautiful bride and their small lives both working diligently at what they love. He bought Susan the green houses from her boss Amadeus for their second wedding anniversary and he knew he had done well when she lit up like a firefly prattling on for what felt like forever as she held onto him so tight he thought he might be strangled by her joyous arms.

Member of the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, still working with one of the teams that are sent out to fix or reverse mistakes made by unknowing new witches and wizards or those who can't seem to control their magical gifts. Abilities learned while in school, not only in class but also in the D.A. inspired Ernie to continue to defend and help those who needed it most. So taking his knowledge of spells, and reversals Ernie went into training for the ministry and has since made it onto a team of about four members. Each with their own special skills making them perfect for their position. Ernie brings an analytical mind and a desire to do right by the Magical community to work with him every day. His father's position in the Wizengamot helped him get an internship easily with the ministry, though he knew he couldn't use his father's influence forever and would have to gain his co-workers respect on his own terms once he was able to secure the job he desired.
