Department of Magical Games and Sports
The Department of Magical Games and Sports is a department of the Ministry of Magic. It is charged with the regulation of all sport-related events in the Wizarding world.
This department was formed in response to the signing of the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy in 1692, when each individual Ministry became responsible for the consequences of all magical sports played within their countries. The current affairs of the department have to do with such sport-related pastimes as organizing the Quidditch World Cup and the Tetrawizard Tournament.
The department has a casual atmosphere at the Ministry, with Quidditch posters all over its walls.
Divisions
The department is located on the seventh level of the Ministry of Magic, and includes the following divisions:
- British and Irish Quidditch League Headquarters
- This division organizes the annual quidditch competition, arranging the matches and the players who participate.
- Official Gobstones Club
- This division arranges gobstone tournaments, and supports local clubs around the country.
- Ludicrous Patents Office
