Caitlyn Quinn was born to a muggleborn father and a pureblooded mother. Her father tried his best to integrate an appreciation for muggle life in her, though she tended to prefer the wizarding world. Over time, she grew to be ashamed of her father's muggleborn status, and embraced the wizarding side of her family.She has internalized many purist tendencies. Katie has some knowledge of muggle life, but what she knows is outdated and limited to her few interactions with muggles.
She is a high-functioning alcoholic, and has done her best to hide her addiction from her coworkers. It has not yet affected her career, but it has damaged many of her interpersonal relationships.
She has two children: Kohaku Yukawa and Nora Quinn. Kohaku was a product of a one night stand with a wizard from a well known Japanese pureblood family, Kazuo Yukawa. After much conflict, she decided to have the child. He was sickly, and weak-- and worst of all, he didn't show any signs of being a wizard. To avoid the shame associated with having a squib for a baby, she had his memory altered and gave full custody to his father, whose wife (he had reconciled with) treated Kohaku well despite being a muggle.
A few years later, she got pregnant again-- this time with her current boyfriend's child. They chose not to get married, and it was just as well-- they broke up a couple years after Nora was born. Nora was sorted into Slytherin, much to Caitlin's dismay. However, she admires her daughter's ambition and tries her best to be a supportive mother. However, her drinking problem and unreliability has strained her relationship with Nora.
Despite Katie's struggling social and home life, she is a dedicated hitwizard, and ruthless in her work. She is not particularly friendly towards her coworkers, and tends to give aurors the cold-shoulder for getting all the credit.
