Cadance Bulstrode

From Absit Omen Lexicon

Cadance is everything you would expect a Pure-blooded lady to be. She does what's she told and never argues. She holds a high regard for blood status but will not be outright rude to anyone below her, often just dismissing the muggle-borns rather than instigating them or belittling them. Well dressed with an air of confidence Cadance is the perfect Slytherin Princess and a complete fake. The real Cadance is a creature no one has ever seen who hates the pure-bloods and their expectations of her. She despises her family and longs to be free, live her life for herself and do anything and everything she can get her hands on.

History

Cadance was born 1993-08-17, her mother becoming pregnant with her not long after giving birth to her older brother Tiberius. She was raised alongside her brother by their stay at home mother who was a part of the illustrious Wentworth Clan, a pure-blood through and through. It was made clear early on how important blood purity was, views that struck home more with her brother than with Cadance herself.

Though the children were raised alongside each other they received separate lessons in behaviour (while receiving the same magical theory and history) For as long as she could remember Cadance was given lessons in how to be a proper lady and what it meant to come from two rather prominent Pure-blood families. She was also being groomed to be the perfect wife, as it was obvious from a young age she was going to have her mother's striking looks. It was insisted upon her that a lady's place was with her husband and that she would only be as good as the man she was married to.

Her mother pampered her and her father adored her but neither seemed all that interested in who was underneath the crystal blue eyes and blonde hair. Even when her grandfather (the Patriarch of the Wentworth clan) visited he went on about how beautiful she was and how they'd have no problem finding her a husband. It wasn't even a thought that she would be able to choose who she wanted to be with.

The only thing Cadance felt that she was doing for herself were her riding (and eventually flying) lessons with her pet Aethonan. The winged horse had been given to her by her Grandfather for her sixth birthday when he was just a little colt. Her mother seized the opportunity to teach her how to ride to improve her posture and when his wings grew in, to fly. After all "it's rather unladylike to ride a broom or travel by floo, and just imagine the impression you'll make when you arrive on a magnificent flying horse."

At the age of eleven Cadance received her letter to Hogwarts just as Tiberius did. For a fleeting moment she believed she could escape the chains she had been in from birth until over the summer her betrothal - to a son of an upstanding pure-blood family - was announced. She knew she'd never be free of her parents control and the image the Wizarding world had of her. With her future husband in attendance Cadance would have to continue to keep up her facade while at school.

Once they arrived at Hogwarts the sorting hat took it's time deciding where Cadance would belong. She had the daring and nerve of a Gryffindor, the loyalty and patience of a Hufflepuff, the wit and sharp mind of a Ravenclaw and the cunning and ambition of a Slytherin. Cadance spent the long stretch of time arguing with the hat. She longed to be cut free and be defined as something other than her blood but she knew that her parents would be disappointed if she ended up anywhere outside of Slytherin (the house of Bulstrode) or Ravenclaw (the house of Wentworth) In the end she was placed in Slytherin, the same house as her brother whom barely had the hat on his head before being sorting.

As the years passed Cadance continued to be the perfect lady, the little Princess that everyone had expected of her while her bitterness and anger grew within. She performed well in classes, excelling in wand work, such as Charms and Transfiguration while taking a personal interest in Care of Magical Creatures, which pleased her Grandfather.

Now in her sixth year Cadance has taken the NEWT courses set out by her parents, who are more concerned in her being an intelligent well read woman than one that aspires to have a career outside of child rearing. Besides she could easily follow in her mothers footsteps and pick up a throw away part time job once her children were old enough to go off to school.
