In 1978 Belarius and twin brother Benedick Mordent were born in Sweden at the Frolich Institute. His parents are werewolf healers James Mordent and Violetta Mordent.

Belarius was born first, older by two minutes than his brother. Belarius went on to attend Durmstrang but his brother Benedick was deemed a squib. Belarius and sister Elixa Mordent were both greatly upset, and tried to include their squib sibling as best they could.

Belarius followed Elixa into Durmstrang, but unlike his sister, managed to begin as a Zufreiden and maintain that throughout his time there. He graduated, and joined the Swedish Ministry, pursuing a career as an obliviator in approx 1996.
