Aurelia has always wanted to make a name for herself, and prove that she is something. This probably has to do with wanting to be on top of a twin pair. She is an independent woman who is constantly on the go and likes it that way. Commitment is not for her, so far anyway, and life has not made room for much in the romance department. Aurelia is business oriented opposed to family oriented, which makes her rather disconnected from most people. As her mind is always on the go, and she is always multi-tasking she can appear quite flighty.
Aurelia Snark was a Fashion Designer, owner and founder of Magique Couture, and owner of the boutique in Diagon Alley Magique Couture Clothiers.
Physical Description
Aurelia would never admit to this but besides from a few striking she is actually rather average. She stands at height of 5’7” in her thin, slender figure that is almost hourglass in shape. There has yet to be the body changing experience of childbirth to distort her figure. Probably the most extraordinary aspect of her figure is the clothes she decides to cover it with. Her taste for fashion is apparent in the garments she chose, many of which are her own designs. The fabric and designs of her clothing are always elegant and of expensive quality. All of her clothing is designed and made by her; she keeps away from patterns and bright colours.
Aurelia’s face in its almost heart-shape is a tad on the large side with a slightly hooked nose as its center piece. Aurelia’s skin is fair with a dusting of regrettable freckles over her cheeks and nose. Of course a face can express all and Aurelia’s does just that, every smile, every look says something different. Her lips, though thin, can make a genuine smile just as they can make a bitter sneer. Her eyes, although expressive, are perhaps one of her most distinguishing attributes in their golden colour. The golden colour of her eyes is a Snark trait; in truth they are a light brown with enough flecks of gold to make them appear golden in colour. Her hair, though natural a vibrant red, has been charmed to be a dark brunette almost black in colour. It falls naturally in waves almost curls past her shoulders but she has been known to straighten it from time to time. It is almost always worn down, unless she is working or far to warm.
A proud presence comes from Aurelia from the way she carries herself. She has good posture and does not appear to shy away from situations. She has smooth movements, which gives off a graceful and calm appearance. Aurelia is always well put together and if she ever looks disheveled you know that she is having a bad day.
Personality Description
Aurelia is the type to enjoy her life the way it and dislikes other people trying to led her life. Aurelia will make the changes to her life as she sees fit. Some might say she is self centered and she would like to dispute this fact, she is more than willing to help out someone else as long as it is not at the expense of her own comforts. Aurelia prefers to lead a busy life, as she is rather restless and needs to have multiple projects on the go, which is why she often has dozens of clothing designs on the go. Due to the fact she aims to keep herself busy her time is limited to help others without encroaching on her own time.
Self-preservation keeps her from being straightforward and at times honest, unless you are family where she feels no need to hide true feelings. Of course Aurelia uses her intelligence as a filter for her thoughts, knowing when to make a comment and when not. This filter is used not only with family but every day life. Aurelia knows when it is time to remain quiet, which has kept her out of trouble multiple times in her youth as well as her adult life.
Due to her restless and need to multitask she can appear quite flighty or unfocused. She finds she gets bored without doing more than one thing at once, which is why you might find her fiddling with some object in her hand, or fidgeting during a conversation. Her flighty tendency continues into her relationships, especially romantic ones. Aurelia cannot seem to make a relationship last for long and doesn’t appear to put forth the effort to do so. She may be in love one day and not the next; she has a rather superficial view of love. Once the feeling of the new excitement is gone she can become uninterested. Her short-lived relationships could also be another form of self-preservation and not wanting to get hurt by falling deeply in love for that one person. Aurelia does not want to feel that pain of heartbreak, and tries to play the part of being blissfully unaware of the pain she might cause others.
Like a child she is happy as long as the circumstances are right. She has always enjoyed being on top and in control, which is where she is most happy. Aurelia can demand attention but can also hate it if she is not in the mood for it. Often Aurelia finds herself tossing back and forth between decisions incapable of coming to one. This is probably why she constantly finds herself starting a new project but not finishing it, or even starting a new activity only not to follow through. You could even go as far as to place this trait on to her inability to have a long-term relationship.
Of course like every person there are redeeming qualities in her. If you do have the chance to be a good friend of hers, or find her in a particular chipper mood you will find she is actually quite talkative. When the mood strikes her she can be quite witty and be intelligent about it. Aurelia is a logical person and tries not to be impractical. She is not the type to want to dream big without having the ability and the drive to back it up with hard work.
===History=== In the little town of Haarlem, just outside of Amsterdam, a pair of twins were born to Gustav (British Auror) and Gizela Snark (dutch heiress). Aurelia Snark who was born a few minutes to midnight on June 7th, with her sister Analiza Snark to follow a few minutes after midnight on June 8th, won the fight for who would be first out. This feeling of being “first place” never faded as she would always be the eldest and there was no changing that. Aurelia even had her birthday the day before Analiza, which meant when she got older she had a full day of gloating to get in. At the time of their birth, along with parents and maternal grandparents, they lived in Holland but this would not remain their home for long. When the twins were barely a year old their father’s old partner Omar was paralyzed in an attack while trailing some ex-Death Eaters. This was enough to make their father Gustav fight hard to move his wife and daughters away from Gizela’s overprotective mother, and suspicious father. In the end he won the battle and the family was moved to his childhood home in Richmond on Thames in London in 1973 with his widowed father Mortimer. Shortly after Mortimer died leaving his son a substantial amount of inheritance. With this money it allowed the now three months pregnant Gizela to live in the way she was accustomed. Gustav would return to his previous work as an auror and six months later the couple’s third child and son was born, Augustus Snark.
As time went on, as it always does, the twins began to develop their own personalities. With time the rift that was created by the fight for superiority only grew. Aurelia would learn the art of remaining quiet and obedient, while her sister decided to let her curious side rule. Because of the way Aurelia remained quiet and obedient she was never the one blamed for the problems the pair made. This was quite understandable as Analiza was usually the one behind the trouble, but this would change because Aurelia would learn she could get away with anything by blaming it upon her sister. It was easy to see that Gizela who on a constant basis would compare the twins favoured Aurelia. The constant way Aurelia got Analiza in trouble caused her sister to hate her, but it only made placing the blame easier. Aurelia once felt guilty for getting her sister in trouble but as the rift grew her guilt vanished. At the same time the girls relationship became that of enemies Greta (Gizela’s mother) found herself less approving for the relationship between her daughter and Gustav. In 1982 Hans (Gizela’s father) was implicated by Aurors, in a Dark Artifact Smuggling ring, and when confronted he was killed amidst the struggle. Proof was uncovered that Hans was a former Death Eater and Greta feared that Gustav would uncover she was involved with the Death Eaters. Greta hated and blamed Gustav, purely for the fact he was an auror. This was what started Greta’s plot to destroy what remained of Gizela’s and Gustav’s relationship in hope of hiding her own indiscretions.
September 1983 rolled around, which meant it was time for Aurelia and Analiza to venture forth to Hogwarts. They were slated to join Slytherin together, but the hat sense their wish to be separated for once in their life Aurelia was sorted to Ravenclaw. It was the first time that the twins were capable of living under the same roof without causing harm to one another, for the most part. Of course when they were within hexing distance the opportunity was never missed. However, their lives at Hogwarts were about to change with the news of impending divorce of their parents. Having been informed of the divorce through letters the twins spent their last few months at school trying to concentrate on anything but their family life. It was said that during this time a sisterly bond was formed between the twins, but it would be short-lived as soon the dilemma of where to live came into the equation.
The divorce came to be after Greta managed to convince Gizela that Gustav was cheating on her with her female partner. Gizela was easily swayed by her mother and filed for divorce March 1984. The divorce left the twins to chose where they would live, for Aurelia it was an easy choice. She was the Osterdike Heir and Gizela’s favourite and therefore moved back to Haarlem with her mother. Augustus would also choose to move with his mother and Aurelia to Haarlem.
The move to Haarlem brought much change; one thing Aurelia noticed was she no longer had a patsy in the form of her sister Analiza. The unity that the sister’s shared disappeared as the physical space between the sisters grew. The twins once more were back to hating one another. Even without her patsy Aurelia still remained out of trouble, for the most part. A big change was her opinion on her position of the big sister role, before she had left it to Analiza to be the one around for Augustus but now that it was the two of them Aurelia felt it her duty to step into the role. Aurelia would do so more actively in her defense of Augustus when her grandmother harshly suggested that he required help that only that of an asylum could provide. Aurelia would not stand for this and became somewhat protective of her younger brother.
With her new location came a new school the following September. Aurelia was to attend Beauxbatons, which meant for the majority of the summer leading up to her attendance she was schooled in the French Language. In the fall she was off for her second year of schooling but her first at Beauxbatons. At school Aurelia felt the freedom she never felt at Hogwarts without the competition of her sister. There was no one around for her fellow classmates to mistake her with, and no other Snark female to attempt to better her. Aurelia thrived on the attention and praise she received at school, and after being immersed in the French Language she found her fluency and accent only become more authentic. As was expected of Aurelia she was one of the top pupils at school in her year. Aurelia would even go on to be Head Girl in her final year of Beauxbatons.
During her time at school her mother met a man, Delphinease Tate. She was horrified that her mother could move on so quickly, but she was not surprised by her grandmother’s interference in the matter. To make matters worse the man would quickly become her stepfather due to the marriage that pleased Greta greatly. This marriage did not please Aurelia and she vowed never to refer to Delphinease as ‘father’ as much her mother wished her to. Her distaste for Delphinease grew even more as together her mother and he brought a life into the world, Dorian Tate. Aurelia did not wish to play the role of elder sister yet again, nor did she wish to watch as her inheritance once more dwindled in share. Aurelia figured if she had to put up with the family at least she had the inheritance to make it all worth it in the end. With the addition of half siblings she felt as if the cause for being the obedient child was dwindling.
Around the same time as her mother was going off and getting married, and producing another child Aurelia’s father was doing the same. At least Aurelia was not around to physically witness Gustav and the 28-year-old Grace Mulciber who were married in 1990 after Aurelia finished Beauxbaton (top of her class). It was after Beauxbatons that Aurelia would move to Paris to study fashion through an internship with Twilfit and Tattings, leaving her brother to fair for himself with their mother and stepfather. Like her mother, her father Gustav would also produce another child, Gavin Snark. Once more she felt the crushing blow of yet another share of her inheritance being taken from her. Aurelia was not there for the arrival of her stepbrother Gavin Snark, and she had little interest in meeting him. Nor was she interested in seeing her nephew Alexander Snark. Aurelia never understood why her sister could have been so careless or stupid, and never could accept her decision to keep her said child. Aurelia was not surprised by the news that Analiza had given up on her duty as mother and passed it off to Grace.
What stunned her more than the news of Analiza’s pregnancy was that of her brother Augustus’ in 1993. She often thought her brother would be more careful than that, but with the news of the arrival of her niece Arielle Snark in the form of a letter she could tell how happy he was. Aurelia had no intention of having children so young, if at all but apparently her siblings had grandchildren covered early on. At least Augustus was happy with his growing career and family.
Life was uneventful until late 1994. Aurelia kept herself focused and busy with her internship learning all she could about high fashion and design. Romance was in the air but it was a new fella ever time she turned around, commitment was not her strongest suit and she felt she was too young to settle down. Nobody stole her heart or swept her off her feet. In late 1994 was the start to the events that would change the Snark family’s life forever. The return of Voldemort caused her stepmother Grace to go into hiding for her safety, while her stepfather coaxes her mother and grandmother into officially joining the Death Eater ranks, with their home as a storage facility for dark artifacts. The knowledge of her mother and grandmother was unknown to Aurelia at the time as she was fair to consumed over in Paris with her own life. Her family was taking a backseat while her career was taking center stage with cameos from her romantic life.
It was 1998 when her world came crashing down, but not before something good happened. Aurelia made a full designer at Twilfit and Tattings but this was when the highlights for the year stopped. It was during the battle of Hogwarts that her father was murdered protecting protégé and Augustus’ wife Beatrix. The death of her father was what brought her home and brought together with her siblings for the first time in many years. The receipt of her inheritance from her father was bitter sweet, because she lost him in order to receive it. The following July the Osterdike home was raided by the Ministry, Aurelia always suspected her sister of encouraging this but Aurelia could never blame her for it because she probably would have done the same. Her father died fighting the people her own mother was apart of, as much as she loved them both because they were her parents she did not stand behind the beliefs of the Death Eaters. After finding several dark artifacts and hiding Death Eaters Aurelia’s stepfather, mother, and grandmother were imprisoned in Azkaban. In turn the Osterdike wealth was split between the four children, Aurelia, Dorian, Analiza, and Augustus. Due to favouritism Dorian and Aurelia did receive a larger share of this fortune. Greda Turpin would adopt her halfbrother Dorian, now a ward of the Ministry but he would be renamed Fredrick Turpin. Aurelia, along with Augusut, Ana and Fidelia took an unbreakable vow to hide Dorian’s history and never speak of his true past.
October 6th 1998 left Aurelia jobless as she was fired from her job for her mother’s infamy shining and unwelcome light on the company. As devastated as she was she took her inheritance and with her head held high started her own clothing line, ‘Magique Couture’. With a lot of hard work she believed she could make her clothing line great. Her personal life was on the back burner because nothing but her business seemed to matter. By mid 2001 her clothing line was a success, the hard work finally coming to fruition. Her very first fashion show was a complete success, after months of hair yanking stress. Her clothing soon becomes the fashion choices of several famous witches and wizards, her business and popularity truly taking off. When she finally felt her business was successful she let her personal sneak from the backburner.
Aurelia’s track record of relationships left something to be desired, especially since her relationship with fashion model Willem was the longest and most serious relationship she had to date. This is saying a lot considering they spent a lot of time apart due to the demanding schedules of their careers. Their relationship end just short of the one-year mark due to stress and Aurelia’s disintegrating attraction to Willem. Aurelia attempted to end the relationship in a clean and business like fashion, considering Willem and she still circulated in the same social and work circles. Flings and passing fancies were all Aurelia kept to as she felt it was much easier that way as her fashion line was exploding in France.
In early 2005 Aurelia made the decision to expand her clothing line beyond France. She began to work towards expansion into England, but this was after much debate. Aurelia had not been to England since the death of her father, nor had she really seen any of her family. After the success in France it just made logical sense to expand across the channel into England. She began negotiations and business plans of what she wanted to do and introduce in England.
Aurelia opened a boutique in Diagon Alley late 2006, which called for relocation to England from her home in Paris, France so as to be there to make sure everything went to plan. She named the boutique Magique Couture Clothiers. She has since then remained in England as her principle residence, but often taking vacation in a small summer home in Paris. Aurelia does find herself jumping back and forth to manage both her French line and her English line.

The easiest title of her occupation is fashion designer but she is much more than that. Aurelia is a business woman and entrepreneur. Aurelia learnt and honed her skills as an intern at Twilfit and Tattings where she later became a full time designer. With this knowledge she created her own business that flourished under her careful guidance and years of hard work.
