Ascella is a knowledgeable Ravenclaw. Considered a little eccentric because of her intellectual obsessions. She is friendly but blunt. She makes simple cosmetics like shampoos to sell to classmates. She idolizes her older brother. She is part of SAWS but her real support is to ELF.
Physical Description
Ascella has fair skin. She looks after her skin with strict regimen. Her pots and creams take up the most space in her dormitory! Pimples are her nemesis. Ascella has pointy almost elf like ears. She wears little earrings. Her favorites are tiny dangling potions bottles. The potion in them changes color according to her mood.
Ascella has a small straight nose. She has very big brown eyes. Prominent brown eyebrows. Her lips look best in deep crimson lipstick. She has long dark brown hair which loosely curls and parts to one side. She keeps it longer than her shoulders. Pins it back. Washes it lovingly with home made shampoos. She uses henna to redden it.
Ascella is fairly tall and slight with a small chest. She does not have a big appetite and is always generous with sharing snacks.
Ascella loves to mix magical and muggle style. Like most teenagers. She enjoys wearing cloaks and her hood up. Ankle boots especially with laces. She wears slender gold and silver jewellery. Little pendants. She is as comfortable in jeans as she is a summer dress. She likes to layer her clothing.
Personality Description
Astrologers suggest Ravenclaw Sagittarians are the philosophers of the magical world. Ascella does love her books and theories. Especially when something can be calculated with arithmancy or rules and equations. She dreams of traveling the world to study under great masters or bathe in knowledge of vast libraries.
Ascella excels at research. She is able to investigate a subject deeply and then explain it to other people in plain language. She has teacher potential. If she can withhold the temptation to look down on those who struggle with these skills!
Ascella is blunt but cheerful and optimistic. Brisk but at times humorous. She expresses her thoughts easily. Is sure of her intellectual confidence. She can put herself in the shoes of others. She is generous. Her friends say she is a little eccentric. Only because she pursues obscure knowledge and obsesses over niche interests. She has her own independence and energy. More recent fall outs with friends have been over her defense of her family, specifically her older brother who she idolizes. Family is important to her. Ascella is prone to especially ignoring important details while looking at her brother's big sketchy picture of the world. She wants him to succeed and is protective.
Ascella is guilty of negative self talk. She measures herself purely on academic success. In a panic she can lose her head. You would not want her as back up in a duel. But you might want her to brew a difficult potion for you.
History
Ascella is the youngest child to Ara and Aries Gamp. The Gamps are an old English pureblood family. They are known for their strong ties to magical theory and research. Ascella was raised to know this path was expected of her too.
As a child Ascella was sent by day to study under her 'Aunt' [[Lyra Gamp|Lyra] in Godric's Hollow with other children. It was simpler than calling the old witch 'cousin'. Here Ascella met future classmates. Made friends. Began to love learning and reading. At home she grew up like an only child. Her older brother Hyperion (known as Perry) was already at Hogwarts. Then working. He is 13 years older. Ascella idolizes him. He is sweet to her. Hyperion has a talent for potions. He was offered a job as an unspeakable because of family and talent. He had an easier path than most. Lucky. As an unspeakable he trained in potions and alchemy.
Ascella was impatient to get to school. She was thought of as a know-it-all the first term. Eager to impress her teachers. She had friends from other wix families. But the friendships changed as they grew up. She did not make many close friends until later. She joined the school choir and the potions club. Ascella has a particular interest in potions. She has a sideline in brewing cosmetics for other students such as shampoos and color changing potions for hair.
She was going to learn how to brew perfumes. But suddenly in the last year or two she has become interested in lycanthropy. She does not want to be a werewolf. But her brother has been studying wolfsbane and werewolf curse. He fell in love with someone who is afflicted. But they could not cope with who they were. They vanished. Hyperion took leave trying to find them. Traveled to Canada looking for answers. Encountered WALI (Wizards Against the Lycanthrope Invasion) there. Kept searching for six months.
Back home he has joined a new organization called ELF - Eradicate Lycanthropy Foundation. He wants to cure werewolves. Ascella thinks this is marvelous. Her classmate Lucinda Temple is a werewolf. Ascella joined SAWS because of this. She wants SAWS to support ELF.
