Arielle is a Snark and by definition she is proud of her family. Proud to be who she is and not afraid to defend her way of life and family at a moments notice. Stubbornness is her biggest down fall and she tends to have quite the temper when set off. Arielle hates change and often fights against the best she can. She has little desire to do anything but play Quidditch for the rest of her life and isn't sure if she is cut out for anything other than sport.
Physical Description
Standing 5'4” tall, Ari has long brown hair and light brown eyes with golden flecks like the rest of her family. She is slender with lean muscles from running about with her friends outside. Has a few scars and scrapes from getting into things she shouldn't have including one straight scar on her left palm and another jagged one across the top of her right foot to name a few that stand out.
Personality Description
Arielle or Ari (pronounced Air-ee) as she prefers to be called is free spirited and loves to be outside away from her studies. While her other friends are worrying about schooling and grades Ari is thinking about being outdoors and what she is missing when being cooped up. She is not however completely a tom boy she does enjoy odd shaped jewelery and tends to collect strange bobbles she finds while wandering through shops. Ari's favorite activity is exploration, if she isn't looking for something she obviously is just distracted.
Ari tries to be her father's strength and distraction. When the two of them lost her mother, she set out to first get over the pain she was feeling and eventually help her father find the light in his eyes again. Her way of doing that was by being her regular out going self, dragging him about to play and jabber on about Quidditch. Sometimes when she is all alone, Ari pulls out a picture she keeps of her mother holding her as a child and watches as the two of them spin in circles dancing in the middle of their old kitchen floor. So happy, so carefree. Neither could know what was going to happen come that spring. Her mother is her chink in her armor and though she tries to hide it, she is sensitive when it comes to things relating to mothers and daughters.
Is a magnet for danger and loves to live a little carelessly. If she runs about unfettered she is at her happiest. Ari loves flying and knew she was meant to be in the air from a young age. It only made sense when she was given a spot on the House team her third year. As a chaser she spends much of her time on the Quidditch pitch using it as another excuse to avoid responsibility. Ari has big dreams of being drafted right out of school for a Quidditch team which maybe why she pays little attention to her school work, much to her father's dismay.
Can be hot headed and stubborn. One of her worst qualities are her temper tantrums that can bubble up when she can't take it anymore. She hates when she has to settle when she knows the bar can be raised much higher and when people look down on her she tends to be spiteful. Since she hates that side of her, Ari likes to keep it in check by doing lots of what she loves to do and avoiding irritating experiences.
Arielle likes to keep a friendly attitude but can be fussy when it comes to making friends because she isn't sure she can trust them. Ari learned from her family to be particular at the very least of whom she brings home. Once she knows they are the trust worthy sort and feels she has a common ally in someone she doesn't back down nor will she break off the friendship due to pressure from other friends or her family.
Cleanliness and tidiness is not her strongest feature. Much to the chagrin of her Aunt. Rarely does she make it out of the house in skirts or in robes completely intact. She prefers to play in the mud and muck wading through it like nothing than wear fancy pressed clothing or do her hair up in curls. While growing up however she discovered her mother's jewelery collection which she holds very dear and even started collecting some of her own to add to it. The weirded the more interested in the item she is.
History
A spark, it can be brief and small but when it catches tinder a giant flame can burn brightly until a bonfire is created. Such a spark ignited the first time Augustus Snark spotted Beatrix Cartwright while attending Beauxbatons school. Catching sight of the beauty sent him into red alert, Augustus arrogant and full of himself walked up to her trying to score himself a date. Beatrix just laughed him off snubbing him casually by waving him off. However Beatrix Cartwright had no idea the determination of one Augustus Snark.
Not to be rebuffed by any girl, Augustus pursued her with intensity. Sending her owls with love letters to embarrass her during lunch and sending over flowers picked for her by some of the younger students from him. He even went so far as to tell her during class that he had a dream about her the night before and they were meant for each other. After a month or so of being constantly dogged by Augustus and his mates, Beatrix relented and told him he could have one date. One. He put his all into it, explaining himself thoroughly through out it.
What had started out as just a game, became much more to him than he could imagine. Augustus, so sure of himself was smitten with her and soon enough she too became enamored with him. From that point on the duo was inseparable. So much so their other friends joked that it was sickening to watch them or that the sweetness was attacking their teeth. The pair however did not listen, nor did they care. Young love had struck this couple and they were hit rather hard.
The couple were a bit too much into one another, so much so that they could hardly believe it when they found their last year in school that Beatrix was pregnant. For about two months they thought of how to tell their families, thinking at Christmas time it would be best that way they could be sure there were witnesses before they could be gutted by their parents. Their families didn't care much for the news from the young couple but it couldn't be helped they had plans to keep the child and be wed after he or she was born.
When they finally graduated from school Augustus was picked up for the Montrose Magpies. He had jumped at the chance to play Quidditch for the team knowing the money would be good and his growing family could be taken care of thanks to a steady paycheck. Augustus and a very swollen Bea move to Montrose, Scotland. Happily they find themselves slipping into a life together both bickering and making up as all couples do. Bea tried to make the house a home while shuffling about in a pair of house shoes while Augustus played Quidditch for money.
On July 26th 1993, Arielle Gale Snark was born. Bright golden eyes to the sky she was the light of her parents lives. The quirky little girl wormed her way into their hearts instantly. When they finally married two months later the little girl giggled with delight as the vows were read in the simple ceremony. With several twinkling candles their family surrounding them, the couple became official in what was considered the highlight of their lives aside from the birth of the beautiful and healthy daughter. During the reception there was murmuring from some family members of it being cheap and too droll but they ignored it happy to be with those they loved and finally making their commitment official.
From the word go, Arielle was bubbily and able to make both her parents smile without breaking a sweat. While she had her, Arielle was very much her mother's daughter looking like her as well as behaving like her. A little before her first birthday her mother started work with the MoM as an Auror in training under the watchful eye of none other than Gustav Snark. Arielle was looked after the best she could by her parents but when they worked she was left with a neighbor who watched over the child very well and even had a son around the same age. The two got along swimmingly often crawling after one another and getting in and out of cupboards and dustbins alike. As the two grew up, Arielle began to evolve more and instead of dressing up in her mothers clothing and makeup, she preferred to play with her father's Quidditch supplies.
When 1998 rolled around the family seemed to have it all. Augustus, also known as Auggie had become a first string beater for his team. His wife was very happy with her job even with the rising tensions in the wizarding world weighing down on her. Arielle had become even more out going, and her parents loved how she was developing right before their eyes. Time seems to be flying by and the only thing that halts it is the devastating blow of the battle of Hogwarts. When dispatched to the battle Bea and Gustav are right in the fray. Gustav protects Bea and in doing so dies in the process. To avenge her teacher and protect the others, Bea runs after her mentors murder killing him and eventually dying from wounds sustained in battle. Arielle had no idea then that her life was changing. She was napping during the time of battle and hadn't been clued in until it was all said and done.
Losing his soul mate, her father became deeply depressed, and while Ari was only five years old she knew the implications of her mum not coming back to her. The loss of her mother was felt very deep and for many months after she went away Ari cried herself to sleep. At a young age, Ari took to taking care of her father. His depression grew worse so much so that he lost his job with the Bombers and eventually they had to move from their home that they shared with her now passed mum to London. They moved in with her Aunt Ana, Uncle Gavin and cousin Alex.
With this move Ari became part of a weird little unit that helped pull her father and herself out of the funk they were feeling. The details of her mother's death were never really explained to her as a child she just knew that her family had become a little more empty and that the hole might never be filled. Ari showed a love for the toy broom he gave her and it sparked a bit for him watching her fly about trying to cheer him up.
The process was slow and tedious but before her first year at Hogwarts, Ari started to see the father she lost when her mum went away. The little girl learned to tend to herself a lot growing up, but she was never really alone. She had family, and developed a healthy respect for them as well as herself. She is prone to thinking she can take on the world on her own but they reined her back in as always. The girl had watched her uncle and cousin go off to school shortly before she did so for two school years, it was Ari and her dad just trying to make it through the darkness together. When they finally came out on the other side, Ari felt stronger because of it. Ari knows in her heart that her Aunt helped pull him out of the darkness too, and she is eternally grateful even if she doesn't show it all the time. The two have an odd relationship where Ari knows she loves her Aunt but she doesn't always agree with the strange things she likes for example dressing her up like a painted pig isn't exactly Ari's idea of a fun afternoon, but family is family.
She still misses her mother every day, but Arielle doesn't let it run her life nor will she let her father get that sad ever again. Around her neck she wears a locket that once belonged to her mother with the three of them together in the picture. When the days are long she likes to look at the picture and watch the little family circle about often closing the silver locket and hiding it before it can catch her father's weary eyes. When her father became a beater for the Falmouth Falcons, Arielle became a huge fan. Originally she liked her father's old team the Montrose Magpies, but any team that was lucky enough to have her father, she felt was worthy of her hero worship. They took to the feisty little sprite who followed her father constantly talking about the latest brooms and other Quidditch related odds and ends. Her room became covered in Falmouth Falcons posters and pictures. She even saved a few clippings from the Daily Prophet to bring with her when she finally arrived at the school she heard about from her cousin and uncle for two years.
Her father discussed the possibility of moving out of the home they shared with Ana and the rest of the family to a place of their own not too long after he got his first job with the Falcons. At first Augustus made it seem like it was a certainty to which Arielle threw the mother of all tantrums claiming he was going to make her go gray before she was sixteen. They fought a long battle, and Arielle ran off to blow off steam hiding out in a tree house she built with her friends a while back. It wasn't until she came home that she realized her father relented where on her bed was a little orange kitty and an apology. She has since named the kitten Avery and is in her fourth year of schooling looking forward to her fifth year in the fall.
How Do You Fit Into Your House?
Adventurous and brave, Ari isn't afraid to do the right thing and likes helping those who can't help themselves. Arielle has high hopes, determination and loves to fight for what she knows in her heart is right. Her fiery spirit and stubbornness makes her ideal as a Gryffindor student making her one of the many who knows their place. House pride is a way of life, that and of course Quidditch.
