Gruff and hard to get along with, Tony has a quick, sharp tongue and is rather blunt with the way he speaks –rather than manipulating and using mind games to get what he wants done. However, there’s also a loyal side to him, a side that will stick out for those he cares for and protect them even if it means hexing someone into next week –and, actually, he enjoys such actions. Smart as he is, he can still act foolish when the situation calls for it, and really isn’t against a good prank every now and then.
History
Though the flora was still quite bare, the weather was beginning to hint at spring the day Anthony Hoult was born: the air was rather warm, rain was rather insistent, and birds were already migrating their way back towards Cornwall. Everything about nature put in its little bit to make it a happy occasion, as a matter of fact –which made it rather odd that Sidney Hoult died mere minutes after giving birth. It was a cosmic twist of events nobody could have seen coming, yet even more amazing was the fashion in which Theodore Hoult managed to preserve in order to raise his newborn son –and the five year old he already had. It was proof of the man’s strength that he managed to purge on, and the fact he waited three years to start dating again was a monument to the love he had for the wife he’d lost.
Tony was five, and his elder brother –Klaus- ten, when Theodore decided to marry all over again. The woman was called Nadia, and she was too sweet in the boy’s opinions, too nice and too open to receive them in her arms and read them bed time stories. It also didn’t help that both Tony and Klaus were aware their mother had been a witch, and Nadia wasn’t –and so the comparisons went, and they simply would not stop bugging their father to try and ruin the wedding. It didn’t work, and the siblings found themselves first suffering a beautiful ceremony –and soon after, new babies: Theodore and Nadia popped out two more boys in the following two years.
Klaus, meanwhile, had gone off to Hogwarts, leaving Tony quite frankly alone with the new woman, the new kids, and a father he felt betrayed by even at the young age. The next few years were honest torture, and only the summers had any redeeming qualities since they were when his brother was allowed to come home for vacations. It was a miracle when, soon after he turned eleven, a letter arrived, inviting Tony to Hogwarts. It was official: there were two wizards in the family. Anthony left home with an eager heart and departed for school.
His brother was sixteen, by then, but during the first two years of Tony’s stay at Hogwarts he managed they spent time together –and, when Klaus later finished school, Anthony received a brilliant invitation: if he wanted, he could spend all his breaks from school living in the magical world with Klaus. Tony rather didn’t feel unhappy to leave his dad’s house behind –although he still keeps in contact with Theodore, and his father has managed to understand that the kids just simply couldn’t stand to look at his new wife.
As a Hogwarts student, Tony has managed to be somewhat of a challenge: while fairly smart and capable of keeping up with course work, he’s a very opinionated teenager who has a history of speaking up in classes to voice his thoughts voraciously even when they go against what is being taught, and in a way that isn’t exactly appreciated by most professors –he’s not a kid who has learnt much about respect, having had liberty to say whatever the bloody hell he wanted during his entire life. He still gets good grades, however, although it took his first four years to truly learn that, at times, he had to keep his mouth shut even if a Professor was teaching something he considered to be utter bollocks. It isn’t easy, but he manages –and gets rid of his moods in a very different fashion.
He joined the Dueling Club as soon as he could possibly could, and has been a proud member of it ever since. Tony loves fighting, and the club gives him a way to do it without risking getting expelled –which isn’t to mean he hasn’t been a part of a few illegal duels through his year. Mostly, they all ended up with a mutual decision to keep quiet and nobody was caught, although a time or two he has been reprimanded for being in the corridors after curfew.
Tony’s first love came in fourth year, and he went about showing it through grunts and frowns and guttural growls. It wasn’t a very successful relationship, and it ended three months after it began –although he managed to stay friends with the bloke. Despite his bad moods and his sometimes unfriendly manner, he’s managed to keep somewhat social and make friends –something necessary, he knows, if he wants to make it in the wizarding world considering he was raised as an outsider. As he reaches his final years in Hogwarts, he’s been slowly starting to think about his future –but has no idea yet what the hell he wants to do with it.
