Alyson O'Sullivan was a chaser for the Holyhead Harpies.
Aly’s a pretty upfront and honest person, and will tell you exactly what she thinks on a situation. Friendly for the most part, but she definitely has very strong opinions against people who think that purebloods should be the only ones with magic. She likes to have fun, but knows when it’s time to be serious as well. Overall, Aly’s a good person, and a great ally to have on your side.
Appearance
When she was younger, Aly really wasn’t much to look at. She wasn’t ugly; the girl just kept a plain, simple look. Leaning slightly towards a tomboy-ish appearance, she was always getting into stuff with her friends at home. Even for her first couple of years at Hogwarts, Alyson stuck to a simple dress style, nothing fancy. Not that her parents were poor, but Aly never preferred name brands and expensive clothes. As time went on, her style changed as Aly grew into her figure, letting her hair grow out and moving from t-shirts and jeans to shirts and blouses. She still retained a simple appearance, but Aly had her fair share of elegant outfits.
Now Aly would be considered pretty, but not shockingly beautiful (unless of course, you asked her husband’s opinion). Years of playing Quidditch kept her body tones and in shape, while still showing off her girlish figure. Even after the birth of her daughter, Aly was able to get back into shape quickly. Nowadays, when she isn't in her Quidditch uniform, Aly could be found in comfortable, easy-to-clean clothes, often muggle brands. With a two year old daughter, one doesn’t get a chance for elegance. But she’ll go all out with the clothes, hair, and makeup on the nights which her and Tomi get to actually go out.
Personality Description
A graduate of the Hufflepuff house, Aly possesses all of those qualities. She’s friendly. Alyson has no problem making friends. She usually gives everyone a chance and personally believes that every person she meets is another opportunity for a friend. In the same way, Alyson’s very likable. Very seldom does she fail to make a good impression on someone. There are always exceptions to this though, and it took a while for Aly to learn that she couldn’t be on everyone’s good side.
And Aly’s very loyal to her friends and loved ones. A good way to make Aly’s “bad list” is to be mean to someone she cares about. Alyson believes in justice for the wronged, and will take it upon herself to see this justice enacted if it isn’t taken care of another way. She looks out for her friends, and will defend them in any way necessary.
But no one’s perfect, and Aly admittedly has some faults. Given her experiences in school, she’s a little biased against those from the Slytherin house. They usually have to earn their way into her good graces. And just as Aly is loyal to her friends, she can use that same loyal characteristic in a way that she’s “loyally” vindictive to those on her bad side. And if Aly doesn’t like a person, they usually deserved it. She’s very active about equality: for muggleborns, werewolves, and pretty much anyone who receives unfair treatment for something they can’t control. Usually the detentions she served in school were for acting out against bullies and pureblood elitists. Now as an adult, it’s that same attitude that usually gets her in any trouble she might find.
History
To fully understand Alyson’s history, a bit must be told about her parents. Charles and Suzanne Schooner were not born with these names. They were actually Thomas Randall and Christina Reid. Life was pretty normal for the two; they both met while attending Hogwarts, fell in love and all that good stuff. But everything changed when they graduated. The wizarding world was at war, and danger from Death Eaters loomed around every corner. The young couple actually tried to stay out of the mess. With their families choosing sides, all Thomas and Christina wanted to do was get married and be happy. One night while they were on a date, they witnessed an altercation, in which a couple of Death Eaters tortured two girls, who were around the same age as Thomas and Christina. Anger over took his desire to stay uninvolved, and Thomas attacked the Death Eaters. While they managed to catch one, the other escaped.
Thomas knew that their actions wouldn’t go without retaliation, and the next week, he returned home to find his apartment had been ransacked and all of his belongings destroyed. fearing for his life and the life of his fiance, Thomas immediately went and got Christina, and they disappeared. They changed their names and got married, moving into a small muggle village in Penrith, hoping that was enough to keep them away from the Death Eaters.
Even after Alyson was born and Voldemort was defeated by baby Potter, Charles and Suzanne chose to stay where they were. Their village was safe, and there were far worse things that Aly could be involved with in the magical world.
They couldn’t keep the truth from her forever though, so when Alyson exhibited her first signs of magic at age seven, they had to tell her. Her parents left out the details that a young child should be shielded from, but got the point across to Alyson that things would stay as they were. But young Aly wouldn’t settle for that. She wanted adventure and fun and to be part of the world in which she really belonged. Her parents finally agreed to let her go to Hogwarts when her letter arrived, but warned her that they would be watching very closely and would pull her out oat the first sign of trouble.
Aly dove into her school years with zeal and excitement. She got involved in whatever she could, until she found her exactly what fit her best. She had been sorted into the Hufflepuff house, which really came as no surprise to her parents. Aly had always been a very friendly child. Generally Alyson did not have any problems at school, except for one area.
It didn’t take long for her to hear all of the issues going around about purebloods versus muggleborns and the stigma that went along with being a muggleborn. She didn’t understand it, because Aly had no problems with muggles. Living around them all her life, muggle life was all she had known until she was seven. And even at then, her parents didn’t really use magic around the house, fearful that any use could draw unwanted attention to them. So even though she was technically a pureblood herself, Aly saw no difference between muggles and wizards, except for the whole magical aspect.
Things were ok for a little bit, because no one knew her real family history; Aly had been asked to keep it all a secret. But as time went on, things got out, and eventually people found out that she really did grow up in a muggle life. This caused all sorts of issues for her from the pureblood ‘elitists’ at the school. She was a ‘blood traitor’ and all sorts of names which Aly didn’t care to repeat. But she didn’t shy away from these insults. It only fueled her passion for justice more, and Aly became a huge advocate for muggleborns and supported them all the way as tensions got worse through out the school.
When Voldemort made his return and things really started to change, Aly had no problem choosing sides. Whereas her parents tried to stay uninvolved during their time at school, Alyson wanted to be even more involved. It was important for her to make a stand, and for her voice to be heard. During the Battle of Hogwarts, Aly stood up against the Death Eaters and their invasion of Hogwarts, and fought as well as she could for what she knew was right. When all was said and done, Aly was finished with school, being a 7th year that term, and she returned home briefly, before moving in with Tomi.
Aly met Tomi O’Sullivan during her third term; he was one year above her. They were friends, but other things kept anything from happening (other things being another guy for whom Aly was developing feelings). But things didn’t pan out with them, mainly because Cameron’s mother was highly opposed to him dating someone who lived among muggles. That broken relationship was her first bad experience with Slytherins, and sort of marred her opinion of them from that point on.
So during her fourth year at school, her and Tomi began “dating”. It was an interesting relationship, to say the least. And things were definitely not perfect between the two. Through the years they went through many arguments, break ups and make ups, and moments where they were sure things would never be well again. But in the end, the pull between the two was just too strong, and Aly knew that she had always belonged with Tomi. She moved in with him shortly after graduation, right before signing on to play Quidditch with the Harpies. She was happy, truly happy. With all of the horribly stuff at the school behind them, Aly set out to be comfortable and relaxed in her new adult life.
But things never stay completely relaxed. Eventually Aly looked into things and found her true family lines, and who exactly she was related to. There were good parts and bad parts to that. Some of the family welcomed Aly with open arms, and accepted the fact that she couldn’t tell them where her parents were located. But others were not so happy to see her around, or to hear what had been going on with Thomas and Christina (they refused to call them by their new names, the only names Alyson had known all her life). She dealt with it the best she could, glad that she had Tomi to support her if things every got really tense. Eventually Aly and Tomi had a baby, Callie, in the summer of 2006. She was adorable, and meant the world to Alyson and Tomi. She made their little family even more complete.
Between being married, and having a daughter, and playing Quidditch, Aly keeps herself pretty busy. While still taking time to get involved in things going on around her. She never lost her flair for justice and equal rights, which is even more important now in light of recent events going on.
