Alaric Travers

From Absit Omen Lexicon

A tall, thin man whose dark eyes bear the haggard, sunken look of an Azkaban inmate. He has long, greasy dark hair and a long, sharp nose. His voice is described as cold. Psychiatrists would describe him as a run of the mill sociopath, as he is supremely arrogant, narcissistic, and anti-social. He cares little about his family and truly relishes in the pain and misfortune that has befallen his brother and his family, especially when he has contributed.

Nearly a decade older than his brother, Alaric was pretty pissed when he was no longer the only child to be doted on. He made it his mission in life to torture Yorick and Yorick was gullible enough to remain unaware of this, going as far as to actually look up to his bully. This would allow Alaric to continue manipulating his brother even in present day.

Alaric was raised a purist and eagerly joined the Death-Eaters when he got out of Hogwarts. During the First Wizarding War, he murdered the McKinnon family and was caught. He remained in Azkaban from 1981 to 1995, when he escaped along with several other felons. He spent the next couple of years as one of the prominent members of Voldemorts followers. He fought in the Battle of Seven Potters, The battle at the Lovegood House and the Battle of Hogwarts, was imperioused by Harry Potter when the latter broke into Gringotts and served for a short time as the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. He escaped after the Battle of Hogwarts and took up residence with his parents. When they died, he took their money and used it to remain at large, often staying with his brother so he can mess with the family dynamic, Jack having been a particularly easy target.

Jack doesn't trust or like his uncle, but doesn't hate him since he has no idea that Alaric is to blame for much of his pain. It was Alaric that convinced Yorick to borrow money from Vincent, likely knowing about his 'business practices', and suggested that Jack take Samantha's place. Then, when Jack returned, barely alive but still, it was Alaric that manipulated Yorick into disowning the boy. Jack hasn't even fully realized how much Alaric's crimes have hurt him.
