The proud owner of Wyrmwood Grove, Aisling is a mellow, freespirited witch with an earthy sense of humor and a knack for trees, mockery, and trash television. An easygoing lass, there is an approachable air about her that invites others to relax and join in her amusement. Her current goals in life include finding a less shitty boyfriend (maybe) and to teach the clan’s youngest minds how to beatbox.
Personality
Perceptive, easygoing and candid, Aisling is a good judge of character, yet far from judgmental. She is quick to notice things, like tells and flaws, but loath to criticize—forever optimistic that one might prove her wrong. Everyone is a little weird, and lingering awkwardness from her years as a wee, gawky thing has left her more than aware of her own shortcomings, such as a want for tact.
As far as likes go, she is fairly easy to please. Like her relatives, Aisling enjoys a good drink and thrives in company who are welcoming but do not rely on her for interaction. Outside of pubs and the nursery, her interests center around trashy muggle television, funny or exciting films, and rap—the latter from which she takes great pleasure in teaching to her youngest Spectre cousins as their elders look on.
Childhood
The result of an extramarital affair, the relationship ended before Aisling was born, and once she began to show Myrna decided not to tell him; by then she was already starting her own business and had met a very kind muggle named David. Before long the nursery was doing well, and with her secretive smiles and his sheepish laughter, they fell in love. After two proposals, a well-timed confession at Wyrmwood for David’s benefit (the grass cushioned his fall) and an introduction to Myrna’s strange but welcoming family, Myrna gave birth in Braemar, and the couple married in spring.
For little Aisling, childhood was spent with family. When she wasn’t with Myrna at the nursery, she was with David, peering over his desk as he worked, or with other Spectre children, running about the castle with neither aim nor care. She, like many, grew especially fond of her older cousins Knox and Balfour, charmed by their obvious charisma and convivial manner. As an only child, the prospect – and reality – of siblings would forever be a foreign one until she had her own, but as it were, her many cousins were a more than acceptable substitute.
The death of her mother was a terrible blow. Thankfully, she and David had the Spectres and her mother’s loyal staff for support. With Wyrmwood still in their possession, it helped ease the ache, as well as give something to look forward to after Hogwarts; she graduated with NEWTs in Herbology, Charms, Care of Magical Creatures, Astronomy and Transfiguration, and went on to take ownership of Wyrmwood Grove. At present, life mainly consists of trees, family, and select friends she has bothered to keep in touch with. She lives at Hiraeth Gardens, and spends most of her time at Wyrmwood and Spectre Estate.
Hogwarts
As a student, Aisling’s grades were less than stellar; she had things she cared about (Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures, trashy muggle television) and things she didn’t (everything else), and her performance made that clear. She was good at Quidditch, but could have been better if she had cared more. Even Herbology was no exception; lessons were spent throwing dirt at her friends and usually ended with detention.
Family & Relationships
Despite parentage and magical heritage, Aisling is very close to her muggle father, and on good terms with most if not all of her Spectre relatives. She is especially fond of her cousins Knox and Balfour, and gets along with Knox’s fiancé, Carr, who is the only one who actually gets her muggle pop culture references. Her mellow, candid attitude makes her a popular favorite with the little ones, and her staff – comprised of faithful family friends and school chums – remain unwaveringly loyal. She is best friends with Leon Faulkner.
After a string of exes ranging from useless (“Mr. Knows Nothing”) to sleazy (“Combover Guy”) to utterly creepy (“Sock Puppet Guy”, “Duck Man”, “Porcelain Doll Guy”), her love life has long since become a source of entertainment for her and her friends.
