Full Character Name: Wren Elise Spicer
Character Birthday & Age: September 21st, 1994 (14-15)
City & Country of Birth: Oxford, Great Britain
Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn: Muggleborn
House & Year: Hufflepuff (Fourth Year)
Wand: Ollivander wand. 11 inches, Unicorn Hair core, Myrtlewood. Bendy with a Spiraled shaft.
Physical Description: Wren is short, only about 5 feet tall (about 152 centimeters). Her naturally dark hair is dyed a bright red, the bottle labeled "vampire." Her eyes are a soft green, matching the murk of a lake. She thinks her nose is a bit too big, and she has a full lower lip, pierced with a silver stud. When she is out of uniform, she tends to wear black, in feminine gothic styles.
Personality Description: She is shy. Wren tends to be a loner, sitting in the very back of class. When asked questions, she tends to mumble the answers. She's very kindhearted and open-minded. She tends to have far too many irrational fears, which she is trying (and failing) to get over. She is a bit of a know-it-all when she actually speaks to people. This is due to her not having good social skills, and keeping her nose constantly in a book.
She doesn't think fondly of herself, sadly. She doesn't really have any aspirations beyond Hogwarts. She hopes, kind of, to become a librarian, maybe. It seems like a nice quiet job she could do. Deep in her heart, too secret for even her to guess, she desires to do something grand and magical, but she doesn't dare dream of that.
Wren is good at all subjects, pretty much, due to her constant studying. Any classes that have a social aspect she tends to not do well in, however. She has few passions outside of studying, one being art. She's a rather good artist, and tends to have a sketchpad next to her current book in her bag. She likes copying pictures out of the books from Hogwart's library. Her most secret passion, is music. Singing to be precise. She only sings when she's certain no one is around, because she's convinced her voice is awful. She loves singing anyways, though.
History: Wren came from a single parent home in Oxford. Her mother cared for her by herself since her birth, Wren's father having left her upon discovering her pregnancy. Wren knows next to nothing about her father, but suspects her magical abilities come from his side of the family.
Wren was raised as a witch, but not the sort that goes to Hogwarts. Her mother was of a Pagan faith, and taught Wren to follow that path as well (though she always told Wren that she should choose her own path). While Wren loves learning about other spiritual paths, she always comes back to her Pagan roots.
Being raised as a Pagan Witch, Wren's Hogwarts letter was at first perceived as some sort of joke by her and her mother. By the time they were convinced of it not being a joke, Wren was almost too late to be enrolled in class. Fortunately, she managed to get everything around in time.
On her first train ride to Hogwarts, Wren watched out the window fascinated at first, eventually settling down with a book and reading for the majority of the trip. Upon reaching the castle, the young girl stared open mouthed, until they reached the great hall. Then her mouth snapped shut at the sheer volume of people in the hall.
As she stood in line, waiting to be sorted, Wren quivered. She squeaked when her name was called, and the sorting hat was put on her head. The hat was silent for a moment, then began murmuring in her ear about which house she should be in. It finally settled on Hufflepuff. Wren sighed with relief and slunk over to her new housemates. She was welcomed gleefully, and as soon as the sorting was over, she dug into her plate.
Her subsequent stay at Hogwarts was uneventful. She doesn't really have any friends, and has spent most of her free time studying in the library. While she doesn't get the top grades in her classes, they are far from the lowest.
Usually, Wren is a quiet, mouse-like creature that stays out of the way and just studies random knowledge in the library. This year (her fourth year), however, she has decided to change her appearance and become more outgoing. She dyed her dark hair a vibrant red, changed her wardrobe and pierced her lip.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: The Sorting Hat was in a debate over Wren. She didn't seem right for Gryffindor or Slytherin, but she seemed too right for both Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. She was finally placed in Hufflepuff, due to her great kindheartedness and open mindedness overwhelming her love of learning.
Writing Sample: Wren stood outside the Great Hall once again, breathing deeply. It always unnerved her to enter the large room, the vaulted ceilings mimicking the sky, so open and intimidating. It was breakfast time, though, and as she had skipped dinner the night before, she felt she needed to go in this morning.
She stepped forward, right as another student decided to jostle her, causing her to spill her books from her bag. She immediately crouched, beginning to pick them up, her face flushed. The other student began apologizing.
"It's alright..." she mumbled, darting into the Great Hall and finding her usual seat occupied by a group of first years. She glanced down the table, finding it oddly crowded for the morning. She quickly reached into the throng, grabbed a piece of toast, and left the hall, heading to the library.
Wren sighed, happy once she was amidst her beloved books once again. She walked down the aisles, looking for a title to jump out at her.
As she turned to go up the next row, a book behind her fell off the shelf. She turned and picked it up.
"Mists of the Past: Magical Creatures of Yore..." she read aloud. The title seemed interesting, so she took the book to the corner of the library where she usually read. As she opened the book, she realized the pages were brittle and dust covered, so she decided to be careful turning the pages.
The book described ancient creatures of the magical variety. Some were ones she knew of. Some she'd never heard of. As she became more engrossed with the book, the later it became. Soon she could barely make out the text on the page, and she was only halfway through the thick book.
Wren suddenly realized that it was far later than she had intended to stay in the library for. She was supposed to have two classes that day, and she'd managed to miss both of them. She sighed under her breath, chastising herself mentally.
At that point, the page gripped in her hand crumbled. Wren stared at the paper dust in horror, as the librarian turned the corner.
"I-I.." Wren stammered as the librarian berated her for using such an old book, "I thought I was being careful. I was trying to be careful. Please don't ban me from the library!" Wren had tears in her eyes as she begged.
She was told she could return to the library the next day, as long as she stayed away from the older books, but that she had to leave for now.
Wren sighed as she left the library, then headed back to the Great Hall. Maybe she'd have luck at getting some dinner tonight. She doubted it, though.
Sum up your character in one paragraph: Wren is just another muggleborn (possibly halfblood) student at Hogwarts. She's very shy, and is socially awkward. Her attempt at changing her appearance to make herself feel better about herself this year resulted in wild hair, piercings and a complete wardrobe change. She does well in school, but has issues with the social aspect of life, so she has no close friends.
