[July 29th - ?] Summer Come and Gone [Grace] on January 01, 2012, 02:52:46 PM Summer holidays this year had gone by very quickly. In part, because a whole month had disappeared into the colourful cornucopia of events that had been Egypt, but also because Raine had spent a great deal of her time travelling to London. Now with no guests to receive or visits to make, the Gryffindor could finally sit down in her father's study and write a letter or two to Grace-- who she hadn't the chance of seeing all summer. To: Miss Grace EddyThe Almasy ResidenceWoodstock, OxfordshireEngland29th of July 2009Hello Grace, How has your summer been? You must be rather busy with preparations for your training and the like. Observing the aurors at the career fair earlier this year has been a sobering experience. They aren't very glamorous, are they? Fortunately not the purpose of their your field. I've just come back from the Hogwarts trip to Egypt in the last week. My roommate was a squib, nothing like the kind I grew up with over here! Takes all kinds, I suppose. It was an interesting experience. Will be sure to drop you a line if I'm ever in London town again this break. Hope all is well.Take care,Raine Skip to next post Re: [July 29th - ?] Summer Come and Gone [Grace] Reply #1 on January 01, 2012, 07:48:31 PM Grace EddyRadford HouseLondon, EnglandThe Almasy ResidenceWoodstock, OxfordshireEnglandAugust 1, 2009Dear Raine,My summer has been....interesting. And it seems to be flying by faster than I anticipated. It started out with less than ideal circumstances, but there have been some silver linings in my misfortunes.I've really enjoyed my new living arrangement with Fauna, Brett and the Fayettes. And the fact that we're all pursuing Auror Training makes it a little more exciting. It's almost as if we have our own little atmosphere of camaraderie here that the veteran aurors already have.I'd be interested in seeing some of your photos of your trip, assuming you've taken lots of them. I am a little envious that I could not attend, as Professor Levartian talked up a storm about it before the school year ended. Anyway, I hope you had a good time.If you ever are in London, you should definitely stop by for a visit. And you'd always be welcome for a sleepover here, especially before the new school year begins. Of course, once that happens, we could always meet in Hogsmeade during your weekend trips.Warmest regards,Grace Skip to next post Re: [July 29th - ?] Summer Come and Gone [Grace] Reply #2 on January 02, 2012, 07:40:06 PM The envelope is strapped to a well-wrapped parcel containing miscellaneous Egyptian souveniers. Better interesting than placid, surely. I hope all your silver linings turn out golden; somehow I feel like this hasn't been an easy year for many people. Probably better not to linger on the past. Do send my regards to the other aurors-in-training, I'm so glad that everyone is getting along. Living together, eating together, and working together... that must be amazing. Far more interesting than tombs or beaches. I did take some pictures in Egypt. Mostly of Abby Reid and a couple of myself struggling to keep on a blasted camel. It was a confusing strange trip. I went sleepwalking at one point. But I'm well and alive and that's all that matters for now, isn't it? Staying at home in Woodstock has been undesirable as of late. Perhaps I will drop by London for a couple of days before we are to leave for Hogwarts, if that is fine by you? P.S. I've enclosed some trinkets from Alexandria. Bracelets and little sarcophagi replicas. Hope you like them, I think I bought too many.Best wishes,Raine Skip to next post Re: [July 29th - ?] Summer Come and Gone [Grace] Reply #3 on January 14, 2012, 08:29:23 PM Grace EddyRadford HouseLondon, EnglandThe Almasy ResidenceWoodstock, OxfordshireEnglandAugust 5, 2009Raine,Thanks for your words of encouragement and support! I'm sure I'm going to need plenty of it!Even with the year's events being less than ideal, my mother always told me that everything in life happens for a reason. We just have to figure out the why and come to understand it.Thank you ever so much for your gifts from your trip. I really do wish I could have gone. I look forward to hearing you share your stories in person so that I may feel like I was there anyway. Please do come for a visit at any time! I'm always up for visitors and I really would love to catch up with you before you have to go back to school. Surely you're excited about the upcoming tournament!Look forward to seeing you soon,Grace Skip to next post Re: [July 29th - ?] Summer Come and Gone [Grace] Reply #4 on January 17, 2012, 03:26:43 PM The Almasy ResidenceWoodstock, OxfordshireEnglandGrace EddyRadford HouseLondon, England7th of August 2009Dear Grace, I hope you are right. The way things are, life would be tremendously meaningless if these things didn't happen for a reason. Did I forget to mention, by the way, I was in China very recently? Rather silly way to get out of Oxfordshire. I'll elaborate when we next see each other-- at some point in the next two or so weeks, I think? Will drop you a short note before I pop up to London. Thank you for everything, Grace.Stay vigilant,Raine Skip to next post
