Re: [August 16] Welcome to the wacky house [Fig, then open] Reply #30 on March 12, 2012, 07:24:05 PM Fauna recognized Fig's jealousy and bit her lip. Working at the shop didn't sound very exciting, but perhaps the tournament at Hogwarts would make up for it."Training is hard," she nodded. "But I really like the dueling part, and tagging along on a few cases. I think the others do too. Grace went into Auror training with us," she added with a smile, since Fig and Ligeia might not know."What's really hard... is understanding how the office works. The office politics. I still don't get it," she shook her head."Brett and Dax keep getting sent off to polish things and you know, reprimanded for talking back. Grace got scolded for dressing nice for her interview. I think one of the Aurors hates me." The feeling was mutual! "And Dion, of course, is... Dion," Fauna sat up very straight and mimed a salute. Then she chuckled."You've got the prankster Aurors, the by-the-book types, and everything in between."Fauna glanced at Ligeia, "Was it like that at St. Mungo's?" Though inverted corpses in a muggle setting and forensic magic won out on Ligeia's list of interesting misfortunes."I've heard of that powder before. What if someone was a half breed? Would it be a clean half and half shape or its own entry?" Ligeia had been keeping a list of the partial humans in and out of Hogwarts. The talk of the auror offices didn't interest her that much although it did clarify some of Papa Argyle's mutterings about the 'improper clowns' if he had been on the bad end of a prank. Must have gotten him on an off day.Fauna directed a question at her. "After attacks it's always exciting. I was on the Potion & Plant Poisoning floor. Some of the nastiest symptoms from improper handling. Though Magical Bugs & Diseases is fun two, we get lots of crossover patients. There was a guy admitted for what was thought to be a bleaching skin disease. Could've ended up like this." She flexed her fingers for emphasis. "Though we found out he had bungled a Strengthening Solution. Never kept his cauldron cleaned." He couldn't have imagined it any better. Grace all uptight, Dion saluting constantly, Brett and Dax stuck doing grunt work - it was all too true not to be blindingly hilarious. Fig was laughing and giggling at trying to imagine his former cohorts trying to make it, scampering about. Fun to imagine the former kings and queens of Hogwarts suddenly on the bottom rung."Hell, Faun - I'd join up just to see that..." he said, having laid full on his back to recover from laughing. But the conversation was moving on to Ligeia's interesting, yet appropriately grusome summer job at St. Mungo's. "Ugh," he provided thoughtfully. And then, he slapped the back of his hand into his palm."You've got! To clean! The cauldrons! Thoroughly!" he interjected, having heard it many times before at school and at home. "I can ask though." Fauna glanced at Figaro, distracted by his fit of laughter, and smiled."I'm so glad I don't have to do Potions anymore," she interjected with enthusiasm. "Sorry," she added. Still two students in the room! Of course, Ligeia seemed to like potions and healing and all of the ooky stuff. There were similarities, but also important differences between their experiences at work over the summer. Healers repaired physical and magical damage, rushed to save lives, while Aurors seemed to deal less with the immediate physicality of it and more with why things had happened, who was responsible."So, you weren't hurt during the attack at Mungo's, were you? But you were there?" Fauna asked Ligeia, a slight crease in her forehead. A lovely lurid bruise on my face and tattered dressings and parasol, nothing irreplaceable." The bruise removal paste Weasley's Wizard Wheezes gave with their more hard hitting products had worked in a pinch. "I did meet a strange man though. Reluctantly pulled me out of the sinking floor. I couldn't tell for sure but he seemed to know more of what was going on than anyone else."Ligeia got up to cross to the window. Radiated sunlight looked set to sizzle everything like a sausage. "Are you on the Floo Network?" she asked, thinking to when she would leave because it would be rude to overstay as a guest. "Yea, I gotta go, too," he said casually. "Can't wait until Apparition training," he said rubbing his hands together, thinking about how he planned to walk home across the central part of the city. Even if Fauna's place was on the Floo, his family's house wasn't, and Flooing to Diagon was about the same distance. But it didn't matter - it was nice out, and Figaro didn't seem too put out.
