(August 6th) Waiting For A Change (Ollie, Open)

on December 11, 2011, 12:27:32 PM

Alexandra nervously tapped her thigh with her hand, she was officially a nervous wreck. This was going to be her first transformation as a werewolf. Honestly, she was scared out of her mind. Was it going to hurt? Would she be ok? What does wolfsbane taste like? The questions flew through her head like a ticker tape with big headlines. Lexi didn't feel good either, for the past month she had been bed ridden almost 24/7. It was like the time she had the flu, but four times worse. Unknowingly, she reached up to rub her shoulder. Under her blue shirt was a hideous scar, it was never going to heal. Instead of cursing the werewolf who did this to her, she actually felt bad for them. They didn't have any control over who they were. At least she had the option of protrcting her self and the ones she loved.

Like her aunt who was sitting beside her. Lexi's mother still avoided her most of the time, making little eye contact and speaking even less. But it was getting better, her mom had started to come up to her room and a few days ago she had actually given her a hug. It seemed as if things were going to get better. For now, Lexi sat in the chair and twirled her hair, avoiding the confised looks people gave her. She figured it was wierd seeing a little eleven year-old sitting in the RCMC waiting for wolfsbane and her first transformation.

Ollie rubbed her eyes free of the sleep that still hung around, most of the time right before a full moon she did a lot of sleeping. She pushed the sunglasses up and onto her head finally, there was really no need to wear the sunglasses inside. She reached into her baggy of bacon to take out another and munched on it as she headed towards the offices to get her wolfsbane. Her mother knew just how to cheer her up. She loved bacon and just before the full moon she had a tendency to consume even more of it than usual.

She was sporting a pair of shorts and a tank top, she wasn't exactly afraid to show off her scares anymore. After the secret got out, really there was no point to cover up and hide anymore. Her shoulder and back showed the most damage and the rest of her had some scares from sliver burns. Really she wouldn't look so terrible if she had been more careful in her youth (or the orphans had not gotten to her).

As she reached the offices she noticed someone else sitting there, someone new. "Hi," she said with a smile as she sat down. "Bacon?" She offered over her bag. "I'm Ollie," she smiled brightly. Ollie wondered if this was the girls first time being here? By Ollie's age she had been there countless times but she knew just how scary the experience could be for the first time. "Are you new this month?" She ventured hoping not to insult the young girl. "I was new back when I was four." She figured if she just kept talking she might eventually show that she wasn't so big and scary though Ollie wasn't exactly what you would call big. She stopped talking so she could finish off another piece of bacon.

Lexi looked to her side as another girl sat down beside her, defineitly older than her.  "Hi, Bacon?" The girl had asked Lexi, she nodded and took a piece. She hadn't brought a snack with her and the bacon would be a welcome treat for her stomach. "I'm Ollie," the girl said smiling. Lexi swallowed part of the bacon, "I'm Lexi." She said to Ollie, who was still flashing a big smile at her. Unaware of her actions, Lexi reached up and rubbed her shoulder, the wounds from the attack still sore.

"Are you new this month? I was new back when I was four." Ollie said, still eating her bacon. Lexi nodded her head slowly, "Yeah, first time here. I was... umm... bitten while my cousin and I were camping," Lexi said. She found that telling her story now wasn't as hard as it was a few weeks ago. She had explained it to many people, friends and family mostly. She crossed her legs and tapped her fingers against her thigh anxiously. "It's not too bad... is it? The potion and all?" She asked curiously.

"Nice to meet you," Ollie said with a soft tone. She listened carefully as the girl explained where she came from in regards to this condition. She nodded her head, and noticed the scar on her shoulder. It seemed as if Lexi was unconsciously touching it, but she was sure she had done something similar. "I was on my family property, or so I was told, when I was attacked." Ollie said casually, she had accepted the fact she was a werewolf long ago. She knew nothing different and was told she had a strong outlook on the condition.

"Here take a look," she said turning her body so the back of her shoulder was exposed with a nasty scar. "That is what it will look like," Ollie said softly as she turned back around. She did not want to hide anything from the young girl. She was bound to have so many questions and Ollie was betting few answers. Nobody but another werewolf could answer the questions. She remembered asking others and getting only assumptions in return.

When Lexi asked about the wolfsbane and the change Ollie frowned a little. "I will not lie to you," she sighed. "It is not easy. The wolfsbane does not taste good much at all. The shift is extremely painful and there really is noting that can be done." Ollie paused hoping she was not frightening the young girl. "I also find my bones are sore before and after the shift, it is eventually liveable and you don't feel like you want to be in bed all the time." Ollie shrugged her shoulders, "As crappy as it is, it gets to be alright." She smiled at her.

Lexi's eyes widened when Ollie turned to show the intracate weave of the scar on her shoulder. Her own wound had almost finished healing and the scar covered most of her shoulder, from front to back. Then, Ollie was telling her about shifting and the wolfsbane potion. "I will not lie to you, It is not easy. The wolfsbane does not taste good much at all. The shift is extremely painful and there really is nothing that can be done. I also find my bones are sore before and after the shift, it is eventually liveable and you don't feel like you want to be in bed all the time." Ollie finished with a smile, and Lexi was glad for it.

At least someone was being up front and honest with her about the whole werewolf thing. Sure she had asked her cousin and read the whole book she had front to back about werewolves, but nobody really knew anything about it except for someone who had gone through the process. "Are you going to Hogwarts this year?" Lexi asked, "I'm going to be a first year. And I'm really excited, I really want to join SAWS."

"Oh I an not sure," Ollie said awkwardly. She did not wish to dampen the girls hopes about the fact that there was a chance even she would be unable to attend. "I was once a Hogwarts student. When Headmistress Snark came into the position at the start of what would have been my fifth year I was expelled for being a werewolf." She shrugged her shoulders, "That was why SAWS was created due to the my unfair treatment." Of course there were other reasons that Astrid had made the group, but many of the members joined after the knowledge of why she had not been able to attend school. "There is currently discussions about allowing me to return. I am sure another werewolf is also making an impact on the reconsideration of the matter." Ollie smiled, on some level she ought to be thanking this little werewolf for bringing another fact into the mix.

"You definitely should join SAWS it is good group." Ollie nodded her head. "If we do end attending school together then I do figure we shall see a lot of one another, after all we will be travelling back and forth all the time." Since she assumed that Lexi would be doing the same as she had when she attended. There was no way she would be allowed the shift on school grounds, particularly in the wake of the March attacks.

"Oh, this may sound like a horrid plug but," she paused, "your family should look for my mother's book that is hitting shelves this fall. It is about raising a werewolf." She went for another piece of bacon. "It is called "Raising a Werewolf" and is about her experience with me. Probably has some good tips or reference for your parents." Ollie finished talking and nibbled at the bacon piece she had just picked.

Lexi nodded her head as Ollie told her about Hogwarts and SAWS. It sounded like she was also going to make an impact on the possibility for Ollie to go back to school. Then she told her about the book her mother had wrote. "Of course," Lexi said, "I'm sure my mom and dad would love that. They really need it." She continued, thinking about how her parents were wary about what was happening to their daughter.

"Oh by the way, thanks for everything. I really needed someone to talk to and I'm glad I found you." She said with a smile. She covered her mouth as she yawned. "I'm so tired, and I feel like I've been sleeping alot. Also, for most of the month I've been practically on bed rest because I was so sick and weak. It was horrible. It's not always like that right?" She asked, rubbing her eyes. "And sorry for all the questions, just curious. Although curiosity killed the cat, or the wolf? Now I'm confusing myself." Lexi said with a small laugh.

"I am glad you found me too!" Ollie said with a big smile on her face. "If you have any sort of questions let me know as I am here for you." Well of course if she was not able to attend Hogwarts it would probably a lot hard to help out a budding young werewolf. Ollie hoped the girl would be given a chance to attend and receive the education that she deserved. "If I don't attend Hogwarts you are welcome to owl me."

"Oh that is not unusual for a first time bite." Ollie nodded her head, "I do not remember it much but I was told I spent a lot of time in bed and felt a lot of pain." She sighed, hating to continue. "I will not deny the fact that you are uncomfortable and in pain a few days before and after the full moon. I am rather tender and find moving to be rather troublesome but doable. It is mainly just uncomfortable." She shrugged taking a bite of bacon, as she swallowed she continued. "I am just a little stiff and slow moving." Ollie looked at Alex and smiled, "It gets better like your body is getting used to it but it will never be the most comfortable experience. The full moon is rather draining. Not to mention the pain of the change itself." Ollie just hoped that Alex would not take the depressed route so many werewolves did.

"Well then, I geuss I'll just be spending a little more time in bed than I'd like to." Lexi said with a smile. "I mean, this is horrible and all being a werewolf, but I think I'm going to have to live with it. I'm not looking forward to this... changing process. But I'm just hoping to get to that point where it doesn't hurt as much. First time's the worst for everything right?" Lexi said laughing as she tried to lighten the conversation.

"So we just take the potion, get locked up, and change. Then go home? Sounds easy enough I geuss." She said. To be honest, Lexi was really worried. She didn't know what was going to happen in there and once the full moon was out in the sky, she knew that it was going to hurt. Hopefully not as much as the time when she broke her arm in three places. Well, maybe it might hurt like that...

She giggled to herself, thinking that she'd have somebody take a picture of her as a werewolf. Seeing as she'd probably never get to see her wolf form anyways, it'd be interesting to have a picture. Creepy, but interesting none the less.

"It will get easier," Ollie wanted to assure her. "It just takes time." She shrugged her shoulders, "If you can stomach it try and have a good breakfast morning after the full moon. I find it helps. Plus chocolate." Ollie loved her bacon and her chocolate, both of them helped her though. Maybe it was just all in her head and wasn't actually helping as it would help everyone else.

"Yup that is the protocol. I actually go home since I have a safe room there. So it helps." Ollie nodded her head. She liked being at home, but sometimes it was just easier to remain at the Ministry particularly when she had been at school going through her changes. Though that wasn't something she had to deal with anymore, was it. Well maybe once again, but she was doubtful. "You won't remember much of what happens in the evening though." Well at least Ollie did not remember much of it. She wish she did not know what she had done to Sasha, though she was told and he was the last thing she saw before she changed so she sort of assumed.

Lexi nodded in agreement as Ollie tried to reassure her that the change would be easier. And that it would take time for the effects to dull down. "Really?" Lexi asked as Ollie told her about the safe room. That was a neat idea, then you would be in a place that was familiar and a little more comforting for the morning after.

"You won't remember much of what happens in the evening though." Ollie said. Lexi shrugged, "Well I geuss it isn't too bad that you don't remember. Honestly I don't think I would want to remember it... So, how long until we get the Wolfsbane do you think?" Lexi asked.
