[May 1st] Remembering Is The Hardest

on April 07, 2009, 12:18:21 AM

10:30 AM

Remembering..Well my darling sister.. It has been the hardest thing to do, and the hardest to get over..

Folding the letter for the fourth time, Emmy rested her head on her knees, arms wrapped around her legs, looking off into nothing.  Remembering was something Emmy couldn't do, however, her older brothers George and Gregor remembered all to well the events that occurred ten years ago.

Rolling her eyes and mentally pulling herself together Emmy leaned back she'd been sitting in one of the window like archways of the Entrance Courtyard for about an hour. Watching the students bustle about excitedly. Some were primped and proper, others glum and morose.

Tugging at the end of her lace lined sleeve she turned straightening out her legs, her knees giving a slight pop. So the question posed now was what she was going to do with time she had before all of the Festivities. Even though Remembering Day brought sadness to the hearts of all who had some sort of connection with it, the day was also about the sacrifices made and what the outcome brought to everyone.  At this point Emmy figured that those who died might not want her some what moapping around all day.

Meg walked swiftly out the door of Hogwarts. At the moment, she had no classes, which seemed surprising. After all, the next year she would eventually have her OWLs. She would rather not think about those tests yet, rather wanting to enjoy her time so far at the moment.

The day started the festivities of Remembering Day. Indeed, it was later during the day that she was participating in the art exhibit. That, in itself, made her a bit nervous. She had gotten wind that there would be visitors there, watching her. It was bad enough that she did not want to show anyone else her artwork, but now it was even worse that people were going to be watching her. Oh yes, that was significantly going to please her alright right. Sarcasm.

Meg knew that she could not exactly participate fully in Remembering Day, since she was a muggle-born. No matter how hard she tried to show how integrated she could be, today was one of those days where it truly showed that she was born as a muggle. She sighed lightly, and shook her head. She did not need to be down in the dumps about it. She would rather stay happy about it, and hope that the week would go well. She turned towards the entrance courtyard, and noticed someone sitting there. Immediately, she recognized that person to be Emmy Darknight. "Hey Emmy!" She greeted her fellow fourth year.

The day had started off cool and calm for Emmy, she'd taken her time getting dressed, she'd even curled her hair letting it hang in loose spirals. In fact, Emmy had gone as far as wearing dress pants, which was as close as was getting to any sort of formal ware until a dance would come around.

"Hey Emmy!"

Just then a familiar voice caught her attention. Stretching her legs out from under her Emmy looked in Megan's direction with a smile. "Yo Meg," She replied with a slight wave as she separated her thoughts, focusing on the moment she was in now. She knew how unpleasant she could be when deep in thought, and this week wouldn't be the right time to act that way. "Whats going on?"

From what Emmy knew about Megan was that she was muggle-born, had a good personality, and seemed to be the adventurous type of teenager. However, Emmy supposed that this day might be a little harder on her seeing that she was muggle-born. Even though Emmy understood the feeling, then again she really didn't understand why. Every muggle-born, or half blood student at Hogwarts had proven themselves worthy of being here, even if some of them were plastic barbie dolls.. Either way she shrugged the thought out of her mind.

Meg looked out to the grounds before them. Yes, it was still early in the morning. Yet, it seemed as if the grounds were anticipating the mass of visitors that would be entering Hogwarts soon, all for Remembering Day. Even though she searched through books about the battles and everything that took place, she did not have the feeling that she should even be there at Hogwarts. After all, she knew absolutely no one effected by the war, nor was she related to anyone effected by it. Therefore, what was there truly for her to remember? Some abstract thought of being allowed to enter Hogwarts? That may be true, but she did not house that same devotion that she should normally have. Thus, that feeling did surprise her a bit, and make her question even being at Hogwarts.

Meg smiled to Emmy as she approached her. Emmy was one of the few of her fellow fourth years that did not seem superficial, which was always a good thing. "Nothing much really. What about you?" she responded back to her. Despite their different houses, both girls did get along well.

Meg fully remembered the mural painting that she was going to take part in later in the day. She hoped not to arrive late to that event as well. The only thing that bugged her about that, was that people were going to be watching her, which was not really something that she was not as accustomed to as she would like to be.

(ooc: Sorry it's been a while. Things have just started to calm down a bit)

"Nothing much really. What about you?"

Shrugging in a relaxed way, Emmy smirked slightly. "Oo. Just up to no good, as usual," she replied with a short laugh at the end. "The early mornings should always be reserved for some slight bit of mischeviousness to get the day started," leaning back on her palms she looked  up a Meg, she knew she had that mural painting thing to do soon, and wondered what they  might be depicting.

Emmy had to admit that the week had been planned out in a rather interesting way. It was certain not to be dull, and that was a good thing. It meant that those affected by what had occured would be able to have a good time admist all of the sadness of those lost.

"Are you looking forward to the mural?"

Meg turned her attention to Emmy, as she spoke to her. She grinned at the girl's first statement. "I see, you seem to be having fun with that," she responded with a slight laughter in her voice. Yes, there were times when even she did act a bit mischievous. It did not happen that often, but it did happen a few times. "Trouble-making in the morning sets the right tone for the rest of the day," she responded to her fellow fourth year. She was wondering if Emmy was joking with her, or if she had really caused any form of mischief-making? Either way, she would respect her friend's choice and help in anyway that she could. Well, she would help in anyway that she actually knew what she was doing. Yes, that was a very important factor.

As Emmy mentioned the mural painting, a quick look of worry appeared on Meg's face. She quickly changed it to a smile as she looked over at Emmy, and nodded a bit. "Oh yes. It's going to be up on the wall, where visitors…could…view…us….," she responded. Her words spacing out at the end, holding out the sounds of the words a bit more. Yes, her nerves were already affecting her early in the morning. Naturally, that could not be a good sign. Smiling again, she looked at Emmy. "You are welcome to come by and help or watch if you want," she offered Emmy. She was not entirely aware if Emmy was participating in anything for Remembering Day. So, she figured that it would be right to offer the girl something to do later in the day.

((ooc: it's fine. expect my responses to be slow for another week))
