Dear Vivienne,

      How have you been?

It’s been a while since our meeting, and I apologize for my delay in giving you a response. Work has been demanding more and more of my time, though this is not a complaint. I guess you know how it is.

Hope your work and projects are developing well. I’ve been involved in some of my own too, but I must affirm that gladly I had time to take your prototype and I guess it’s already safe to send you my personal opinions about it’s effects.

The potion, on the measures you have carefully used, is pretty safe. I haven’t observed any side-effect while taking it and none of my activities suffered any performance drop. As for the sleep, it assured a good rest on the first part of the night, but after circa three hours some external influences can really turn this effect weak and it’s more easy to wake up in the middle of a nightmare (which is not entirely a bad thing for the patient, I suppose). I must add as an observation that the last aspect I described can be diminished by the joint use of a Dreamless Sleep Potion.

Have you worked along with the hospital staff in order to find out the right dish to cover the taste? In my own experiences, sweet worked better. And it might be a good rite to have this kind of dish on the supper, I suppose; sweets are calming by nature.

My apologies again for my delay; I hope it didn’t interfere on your work.

I wish you the best,
Una Freher

It was notable that Una wrote the letter with more calm and confidence than the first ones they’ve changed last month. The young Alchemist was, indeed, feeling better with herself about the work and deal with the Healer wasn’t terrifying at all - as she had the chance to attest on the tearoom meeting. Vivienne was a sweet person, and for some reason Una believed she had a good, kind heart. It was easy to trust and be willing to help her, so she was true in her apologies - she was really sorry for not have sent the letter earlier. It didn’t pass in her mind that the most interested part, Viv, also didn’t write so far. The responsibility of testing the prototype was Una’s, after all, but even feeling a little embarrassed about that, she felt that the Healer would be able to understand. Maybe that was just her gullible nature speaking, but she gave a hopeful try anyway.

Dear Una,

Merci, I have been well and was pleased to hear from you! I comprehend that your work at the Ministry has been keeping you busy lately. These are not idle times for us at the hospital, either. Nonetheless, I hope that you are in good health.

Your feedback on my given prototype is much appreciated. I have recently used that specific elixir, with the addition of the powdered root you were kind enough to supply, as the base of various kinds of sedatives. I regret to inform you that my pursuit for an adequately tasteless but effective sedative has been momentarily delayed.

We are now utilizing a combination of more traditional sedatives in patient meals but I am selectively moving on to this base, if only to see how well the dinners will hide its taste. We are fortunate thus far. Savoury pies and sweet puddings have been most practical.

It is good that you have written to me as I am now amidst the process of undertaking the brewing of a different kind of sedative, the reason for the delay mentioned above. I cannot explain the ultimate objective of this task, except that we are seeking to create a customizable concoction. Would you, maybe, like to lend an opinion or your expertise on such a concept?

Je suis désolé. I do not mean to make your workload even heavier! But any advice on the matter would be most useful to those of us here in St.Mungo's. I enjoyed our last meeting very much and would take great pleasure in seeing you once more!

Take care,

Viv Thorpe

The letter has been written on flimsy, notebook parchment. Vivienne's handwriting is neat but slanting, indicating that she had been writing against an uneven surface-- which is true, as she had take it down to one of the wards to work on between making observations of her patients. Una's letter came as both a relief and a reminder of the brewing effort she was undertaking to help the hospital deal with Lycantrophic issues. When she had managed to send her response away with one of the mediwitch's owls, Viv felt a burden lift from her chest. It was good to know that there were people outside of St.Mungo's with whom she could reflect with on this matter.

Dear Vivienne,

It was good to hear you’ve been fortunate in disguising the taste of the sedative on food; but not so good to know your pursuit had been delayed. I hope this task you’ve mentioned means to you as much as your personal project.

I can manage time to see you, it would be a pleasure. The tearoom at that hour of the morning is still a good option for me; just tell me the better day for you so I can include it on my schedule.

I understand perfectly if you cannot tell me exactly what you’re pursuing now, but then I would ask you to choose well what you’re going to explain to me, so I can be more helpful. I sincerely wish to give you the most accurate opinion I can.

I make yours my words: it will take a great pleasure to meet you once more.

Be good,
Una

Her mood was even brighter than it was on the last letter. Something in her personal life was going so well, to say the least, that everything was good and light and beautiful on her free times now; so when she had the chance to sit and write the answer to the Healer, she did it murmuring a silly song and doodling little flowers on the corners of the parchment. Some pretty ones, it could be said, since Una had some practice in drawing plants for studies. With that mood, that she didn’t mind to hide, Vivienne could ask her anything and she wouldn’t say no. Besides, the Healer deserved to receive the help she asked, and again Una was willing to do what she could to be useful.

Dear Una,

How is the 27th of this month? I believe it is a Saturday morning and the tearoom should be appropriately unoccupied for the purposes of our meeting. I can assure you that my current task is indeed one that I consider important on a personal scale. Any effort to lessen the loss of human life is of significance to me.

It would be wise for me to wait until we see each other before disclosing information regarding this task. I will require nothing more than another head with whom to discuss this issue. Your opinion wi I hope to hear from you soon. Until then, please take care.

Sincerely,

Viv Thorpe

The letter was sent from the same seat that Vivienne Thorpe had occupied the last time she had met with the recipient of her writing. It would be pleasant to see Una Sophia Freher again. Such an intelligent, sweet witch. After her week of arguing with colleagues over sedative ingredients and brewing studios, a friendly face would be a reprieve. Not to mention now was an ideal hour for outside opinion. Something fresh to contrast with her own sluggish flow of ideas.
