Walnut Wood

Walnut Wood– – A beautiful, strong, and versatile wood.  Unlike black walnut, it has no slant towards Light or Dark.  A feminine wood. In touch with the element of earth.  Used for cleansing and protection.  Excellent for Dispelling work.
Unicorn Hair – The unicorn is a creature of mystery and beauty.  Gentle yet powerful, ancient yet pure, a strand of its hair is a wise choice for one who wishes to cast healing and protection spells.  It has long been thought that unicorns protected the forest creatures, nurturing and overseeing plants, flowers, and trees.  This core would make an excellent companion to woods that draw from the element of earth.  Unicorn hair is a more subtle wand, but it is quite compatible with Charms and Transfiguration.  It is also hands-down the best core for healing, as it picks up some of the healing capabilities of unicorn blood.  Unicorn hair has a reputation of picking gentler or more cerebral users, so it is common amongst Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws.  More laid-back Gryffindors and subtler Slytherins may find themselves with a Unicorn hair wand.  Great for Charms.  Usually chooses the Pure of Heart.
Pliable –  Transfiguration.  Easy-going but strong willed.
Decorated – Image/beauty Minded, Usually Ambitious.  (Swirls and a Sun)

Physical Description:

Waverly stands at a fairly average height of 5'5'', weighing at an ideal 130 lbs with a classic hourglass shape.  Her ethnicity is multiracial: East India, the Cook Islands (Maori) and New Zealand (which is evident in her naturally darkened skin and facial attributes).  At first glance, one would describe her beauty to be cat-like and graceful, but understated and alluring all at the same time.

Normally keeping her dark brown hair straight at jaw-length, her bangs scatter haphazardly above her dark eyes.  The tips of the rest of her hair then sticks out at the sides of her neck.  She has also been known to style her hair like a normal teenager would: feathering it in delicate chocolate waves, giving her hair subtle bounce and volume.  She walks tall, holding herself with an air of confidence, though not uppity or insistent upon herself.

She's somewhat of a girly-girl when it comes to fashion: bohemian-style with lots of accessories.  All colors are applicable, especially gold, salmon and white.  She also has a beloved affair with lace and beads.  Heels are a normality for her, and she avoids wearing tennis-shoes (or any enclosed type of shoe) whenever she can.  She's also very fond of light-weight dresses and skirts.  Her makeup is earthy and understated, with a hint of gold shimmer around her eyes.

Personality Description:

Waverly's Patronus: The Dove
Waverly is very conscientious of herself.  Appearance matters to her, but doesn't go so far as it becoming the most prominent thing on her mind.  It's not that she's looking to impress others, rather, she wants to look her best so she can make a statement for herself.  When she looks good, she feels good.

Being under the umbrella of her mother Zora, she's expected to be a certain way.  This rubs Waverly the wrong way.  She wants to make a name for herself and not be typecast.  When people assume she's a good little obedient girl because she was raised by an Auror, this just makes her want to do something unexpected to shove it in their faces.  This line of thinking can get her into trouble, of course.  Being the rebellious teenager she is, sneaking out past curfew and coming home with a new piercing has become the only outlet for her thirst of being something more than just an Auror's daughter.

This does not, by any means, label her a bad girl.  In fact, she's a very good person.  She has sense enough to stop when things get too out of hand and has a strong moral compass to keep her out of most sticky situations.  (It's just sometimes obscured with the desire to prove something of herself)

At school Waverly is usually outgoing and has many people she calls friends, but she ignores and remains indifferent with everyone else.  In her group of friends she's considered a leader: making plans and keeping the group happy.  This can sometimes get in the way of her own happiness, but she finds that when others are happy, she should be, too.

She has a lot of potential regarding schoolwork.  Being a fast-learner and great guesser, she's had a knack for spilling out a four-page essay the night before it's due and earning at least an A (usually an E).  Though it won't bother her much if she drops in a grade personally, but the support of her mothers encourage her to do well.

She loves her mothers dearly and has never had an issue with having two mothers.  The social norms of family traditions never phased her, since she grew up in an open-minded household.  Yes, having two mothers is unconventional, but those who turn their noses up at it can bugger off, in Waverly's opinion.

Out of her two mothers, Althea is more the nurturer and is home all the time, so Waverly's relationship with her is very open and loving (being the emotional outlet out of the mothers).  Zora, however, is a bit more complicated.  Zora would praise Waverly on her achievements, making her more susceptible on getting high marks and participating in extracurricular activities.  She also doesn't approve of Waverly's love for the Slither Girls series, which both amuses and annoys Waverly.

Though she understands Zora's protectiveness is a result from her job of being a dark-wizard catcher, it sometimes irritates Waverly and becomes overbearing.  This leads her to spout teenage angst about being smothered and not having enough freedom (which can cause a strain in their relationship).

History:

Waverly was born on the first day of September, 1992 in a London Hospital.  Her biological mother had planned on putting her child through the adoption agency since the conception, and followed through days after Waverly was born.  From there she was sent to a foster family for the first two and a half years of her life until she was formally adopted by Zora Roh and Althea Ballentyne in 1995.

Since then she has been raised by the two mothers with as much love and devotion an adopted child could ask for.  Since Zora works basically non-stop, Waverly doesn't see or talk to her as much, which leads to less of an emotional bond between the two.

She had a good childhood: playing with her mother's makeup and dressing up for tea parties.  Also taking dance classes throughout her adolescence, her natural grace has made her an adept ballet dancer.  Despite her girly tendencies, one thing has always made her stand out above the pomp and glitter: Quidditch.  Being on a broom was like second nature for Waverly, and when she first picked up a quaffle, she knew this was the sport for her.

At the age of seven she started showing magical abilities, leading to her acceptance into Hogwarts at the age of eleven.  Excited to go to the same school her mothers went to, she was still sad to be leaving them for the majority of year, but was inspired to be the brave little girl Zora and Althea raised.

Being sorted into Slytherin made Waverly uncomfortable at first, since only one of her mothers was a Slytherin while the other was a Ravenclaw, but the reassurance from Althea soothed her doubts soon enough.  From her first year on, she has maintained respectable marks and made way in various extracurricular activities, such as a Hogwarts Howler writer, Astronomy Club member and a Slytherin Chaser.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?:
Waverly was sorted into Slytherin due to her thirst to prove herself.  She will do whatever it takes (with her rebellious nature as aid).

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Waverly is a graceful, girly and slightly rebellious Slytherin.  Being raised under the scrutinizing gaze as an Auror's daughter, she has developed a need to make a name for herself; to break free from what's expected of her.  She wants to do whatever it takes to become her own person and blow people away.
