“Never mind, let's go Sid.”

Apparently Una didn't need to be asked twice, since she was already dragging him towards the door. "Wait.. wait... wine..." he protested, attempting to swig the last mouthful of wine in his glass before she yanked him away. It would be a sin to toss such excellent vintage. Leaving the goblet on the bar, h corked the bottle and tucked it under his arm. "All right, lets go..." He grinned, his confidence soaring thanks to the wine and her encouraging smile. He even felt confident enough to slid his hand into hers, engulfing the slender fingers of her good hand with his own large, callused one. Giving it a gentle squeeze, he lead her towards the exit.

A few minutes later

Thank Merlin he was a wizard. Getting to the top of a nearby office building would have been daunting, if not impossible, otherwise, especially with a wireless, wine and woman in tow. The rickety, rusty fire escape would fall apart if you looked at it wrong, so he broke his family taboo and apparated them up there. The crumbling building was abandoned and uninteresting to most people, muggle or wizard, aside from the vandals that broke the windows and tagged the walls below with colorful and often rude symbols.  He was also fairly sure there was a commune of hobos or hippies living in some of the lower floors, but thankfully no one ventured to the roof. So far, the roof was Sid's sanctuary.

It was a lovely view of London at night, marred only by a flickering neon billboard, which Sid always considered more mood lighting than an obtrusion. He had cleaned up the roof rather well. There was a small garden with a smattering of flowers and an old cast iron table flanked by matching chairs, its peeling white paint chipping off and falling gently like snowflakes in the evening breeze. Leaving Una to enjoy the view, Sid begin to unpack the stuff he had retrieved from his office. The half-empty wine bottle and a few dusty, mismatched glasses, as well as a large, drippy candle, went in the middle of the table. He lit the candle with a wave of his wand.

Setting the wizard wireless on the ground next to the table, he carefully tuned it to a channel playing what sounded like Celestine Warbeck. As she warbled out from the old speaker, Sid stood back and looked at his handiwork. The mix of lights from the candle, the moon and the flickering neon made the wine bottle glow and the flakes of paint glitter, like it had been planned as decorations. Pleased with the effect, Sid gently pulled a single pink rose and strolled over to the edge of the roof where she was, tucking it wordlessly behind her ear. He than rested against one of the billboards struts, his eyes tracing her profile. "So... what do you think? It's beautiful..." He motioned to the scenery, but his eyes didn't stray from her.

Since they got up there, Una stayed almost paralyzed on the same place, just crossing her arms against her chest - more like she was embracing herself as she was feeling cold, but in truth she wasn’t. The wine was doing a good job in keep her warm, but the whole situation was so new to her that made she feels the need of cover when he left her there alone. Her eyes scanned the view just because she was too shy to stare at him while he was preparing the place for her. The thought made her blush. He was preparing the place for them both, and this second thought made her blush harder. She knew she was really really close to be with him, become officially his date and such; but knowledge on that case just turned the butterflies on her stomach more agitated.

She was on a state of doubt if she should go ahead make things official or tell him an excuse to run back to her house, to her lonely life, to have a normal night and a normal day after where she could freely wander about how was it like to be someone’s girlfriend without experiencing it. Inwardly, Una always felt that wanders and theories were far more beautiful than reality, but when she felt that Sid was approaching again she turned to him and finally saw what he’s been doing. Her mouth opened in a mute exclamation, as she could hardly believe that what she was facing was reality. And he did it in a way that she never imagined before. The silky touch of the rose he put so delicately on her hair pulled Una definitely to the here-and-now. She felt that she was incredibly red and the smile she tried to give him went out so sheepishly that it probably seemed graceless. Oh Gott, why she has to look so silly?

"So... what do you think? It's beautiful..."

“It’s… it’s amazing how you’re able to transform a place like this into something so wunderschön… beautiful, wonderful. I bet no one else would have eyes to this building, no one would suspect that it could house something like this.” She bit her lips unsure if she said something wrong, and even more unsure if she should raise her eyes. Sid was looking at her all the time, Una could tell, so when she finally faced him she couldn’t avoid the soft and silly laugh that came out of her lips. “Thanks, Sid… It’s quite better here.”

She wondered why they didn’t come straight there, it would be way simpler. But, well, she should admit that it was more risky to invite someone to go to an abandoned building. Anyway she was thankful for Sid be so considered, he really thought about everything. “And hey…” She added suddenly, brighter, hearing the song playing now with more attention. “We can dance… here… if you’re still up to it…”

“Thanks, Sid… It’s quite better here.”

"I'm glad you like it..." Her pleasure at the surroundings made Sid flush with pride. Carefully placed magic had made the rooftop the perfect lunch spot all year long and he practically lived up there on his breaks. He had been worried, albeit only a little, that she would be one of those girls that cringed at the idea of eating on such an old table or drinking out of mismatched glasses. If she was... he didn't think he could see her in the same light. However, he was never happier to be proven wrong. Grinning in pleasure, he poured some wine into the glasses and started to sip at his own, settling back into one of the chairs.

“And hey…We can dance… here… if you’re still up to it…”

Sid promptly seized and spit his wine back into his glass, surprised by her sudden interest in dancing. He had hoped she wouldn't want to, honestly, because he was fairly sure he would tread all over her feet when they did. But seeing that bright smile of hers... how could he refuse? Wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, he took a deep breath and pushed himself to his feet. He hoped to god that he didn't ruin this perfect evening by breaking one of her toes.

"Um... Okay so... uh, how do you want... to do this?" He said slowly, his hands moving back and forth from her hips to her shoulders, uncertain where to put what without inciting a slap. He finally settled on stooping down a bit and placing his hand awkwardly on the curve of her waist, right above her hips, so that she could rest her hands on his shoulders. They looked like they were in primary school... a couple of prepubescent teens dancing for the first time. The only thing missing was braces and pimples. Staring down at her, the moonlight playing off of her soft features, made it all worth it though. Licking his lips, he gave her a shy smile "Ah well... um... Shall we?" The next song begin to serenade them and Sid started to sway gently to the tinny tune, not yet moving his feet in fear of ruining that moment of bliss.

“Oh…” she raised her hands in a gesture to try to calm him down, while shaking slightly her head. Una didn’t mean to make him - again - so nervous. She wanted to tell him that they could perfectly sit and drink and talk or do anything else; that’s why she just suggested, not demanded to dance. But when she finally found the words to say, he was already on his feet again trying to find a place for his hands on her hips and her shoulders.

"Um... Okay so... uh, how do you want... to do this?"

“I… ah… we…” she stuttered without really a point, losing the words again. Una was as uncertain as Sid about where to put her hands. His waist was closer to her, but she placed her hands on his chest automatically for some reason, and that felt good. She softly laughed, shy and without raising her eyes to him. That was awkward, and again she wondered why she has to be so damn silly. That should be simpler, right? When he finally found a place on her back, Una tried to get with her hands around his shoulders in a comfortable way, but that meant that she should be on tip toes. She felt he was staring at her again and looked up find his smile. Ja, it was strange and good at the same time, to be there so close to him; so she smiled back sheepishly - what he seemed to take as a confirmation.

"Ah well... um... Shall we?"

She wasn’t really sure if she was ready to go in the way she was. The shoe she was wearing wasn’t really comfortable, and stay in tip toes with it for too long could have tragic consequences, at least as tragic as step on his feet or stumble with him could be. Still he started to sway softly, and she tried to follow him - and both stayed like that, afraid of really move. That as getting a little… ridiculous. Una shook her head, considering. She should stop being so shy for the sake of the night, or they would stay like that, immobile, until everything was over. And she was sure she could do better than that.

“Wait.” She said, suddenly getting a little away from him to quickly slip her shoes off her feet. That made her feel way much better, and if it wasn’t for the cold touch of the ground, it would be perfect. Actually, when she got close again to place her arms around Sid’s shoulders, she realized how that could be perfect. “May I…?” She asked, but without wait for an answer Una gently stepped over the tips of his Chuck Taylors; finding there the most comfortable way to hold him and, finally, dance. “If you don’t mind lead…” she softly said in the end, smiling in relief. That was so good, so natural, so… yes, perfect.

“Wait.”

Sid's heart skipped a beat when she pulled away, instantly worried that he had stepped across some line. Sure his awkward dancing was... well... awkward, but was it so bad that she couldn't deal with it? The thousands of worries that flitted through his mind at that moment disappeared when he realized she had pulled away to remove her shoes. At first he wondered how doing so would help the problem with their differences in height, but as she put one dainty foot after another on his much larger, much less dainty, shoes, he realized her plan. A wave of relief rolled over him and he smiled down at her. She was so adorable and he loved it.

“If you don’t mind lead…”

"No... not at all..." He said as he stared down into her eyes. For once, looking directly at her didn't result in him stuttering and flushing. Instead, he felt a strange swell of comfort and confidence, as though this was perfectly natural for them. Gone was the awkwardness in his hand placement, he simply slid his arms around her and pulled her close so that her head could rest on his chest, where she would surely hear his heart hammering. With her dainty feet resting on top of his, the fear of stepping all over her toes quickly faded and Sid found himself able to move with more grace. He could finally lose himself in her presence, rather then worry about impressing her, and lose himself he did. The music had already faded out before he realized they were dancing to silence, just swaying there in each others arms.

An ad came on, but Sid paid it no mind. Not even some screechy voiced witch plying wart remover could ruin the perfection of this moment. Sid had spent days worrying if he would miss the signal that it was alright to make a move, like he had done many times before, but all that worry was for naught. He knew it was the right time. Pulling away from her, just slightly, Sid reached up and gently cupped her cheek with a warm hand, his callused thumb brushing gently across her cheekbone as he swam in the depths of her eyes, enraptured. Time seemed to freeze around them, holding its breath as Sid leaned down. Warm lips encompassed each other and Sid could taste the wine and a smidgen of lipstick on her lips. Somehow, on her, it tasted impossibly sweet.

It was so warm and good on his arms that Una looked back in his eyes, smiling sweetly and still blushing - it was inevitable when the blood was rushing faster in her whole body thanks to her heart. She didn’t deny resting her head on his chest and she couldn’t distinguish his heart beats from hers since they were on the same rhythm, the only one she could follow, so more important than the music.

The way he kept her against his body, the scent emanating from him, and she was sure that would stay on her skin and her clothes for the whole night; everything was so alluring that she just closed her eyes and let herself be guided by him. Stay in tip toes over his shoes wasn’t unpleasant at all, and Una even allowed herself to softly touch his nape with her left hand. She should try that again later without the glove.

When he pulled away from her, Una opened her eyes and stared at him carefully, feeling lovingly smaller by the touch of his hand on her face, his callused thumb being more than welcome to trail on her delicate skin. She smiled a little nervous for the suspense, but then Sid finally leaned down and she just knew that she should close her eyes again and stretch the most of her feet as possible to feel his lips on hers; so naturally led to that touch, so meant to be.

But then, suddenly, she broke the contact and hid her face on his chest, laughing softly as a teenager who has just kissed for the first time. Una was close to that. “It was good…” she murmured before raise her head again, this time pulling him gently to repeat. The touch of his lower lip, the taste of his upper lip, the feel of both of them against hers - she could easily spend the whole night discovering and rediscovering that along with many other things. How was it like to holding hands; talking close to each other, looking at each other’s eyes naturally, not fearing anything? So much to find out, and she was already delighted just for the possibilities. If that was a date, then date was certainly beyond her expectations.

“It was good…”

"yeah...It was..." Sid breathed, his mouth curling into a pleased smile as she rested her head against his chest. Leaning down he sniffed her fragrant locks and sighed happily. This was heaven. Then she reached up and pulled him down into another passionate kiss and he recanted. This was heaven. The warmth of her embrace and the taste of her lips replaced everything in his world. There was, for a moment, nothing that existed outside of the two of them and Sid wished he could remain like this for the rest of eternity. He didn't need food or shelter, her arms were his home and her lips his sustenance.

She pulled away, breaking the spell, and Sid floated lazily back down to earth. Wafting on the remains of his kissed-induced euphoria, he just stood there looking at her like a fool, too enraptured with her to realize how silly he looked. When he finally touched down on earth and came to his senses, he just slid his hands into hers and interlaced their fingers, chuckling. " I like this... " He said softly with a crooked smile, "... It's so nice to... You know... be able to be with someone and not feel... so bloody awkward..."

Leaning down, he kissed the top of her forehead "Promise me we will do this again..." His lips brushed the soft skin of her brow as he murmured this "... Soon."

"I like this... It's so nice to... You know... be able to be with someone and not feel... so bloody awkward..."

“Yeah…” she agreed, but with a nervous glance at her right hand interlaced on his. Una didn’t deny the touch, she was already aware that she should allow people to do that, though it was normally only in handshakes. Besides, the magical atmosphere that surrounded them after the kiss, when they both stood looking at each other like a pair of fools distracted her from the issue when he gently slid his hands on hers. Well, Sid knew there was something, she now feared that he would feel too, and feel that was something she hated. She could only expect that he would hate it too - in which case, she would feel a little worst than bloody awkward. Devastated was a better word to describe, maybe. But, instead of showing any reaction to the touch, he leaned to her and kissed her forehead. That should be a good sign.

"Promise me we will do this again... Soon."

The way Sid murmured the last word caused a shiver to run down her spine, in an excellent way. Una felt relief, but smoothly slid her hands from his, passing the right arm on his waist and caressing his cheek sweetly with the left hand. “Is it soon already?” She asked, not really waiting for an answer - once again she stretched her feet so her lips could reach his, but this time the kiss was brief. She giggled, she knew what he meant, but couldn’t help but making a little fun of that.

“I don’t feel the need of making a vow.” She spoke in the end, looking into his eyes as serious as a child explaining an obvious truth to an adult. “I do want to do this again with you, soon. If you want the same thing, we will.” Una hugged him, sighing. Why would she not want to do that again? Sid was so good to be with, so cute, so funny, and so delicious to hug and kiss. And all his kindness, his care towards her; it was impossible to remain indifferent, and even more impossible to not wanting more of that.

“I like you.” She murmured with simplicity, her head again resting on his chest. “Hmm… do you want to finish that wine now? I don’t know what do you usually do here…” Una intended to suggest something; stay there in each other’s arms was tempting, but she felt that maybe they could use that time to do something else. Soon she would have to head home, and even feeling that it wouldn’t be the last time they would be there on that roof top; deep inside she longed to enjoy every moment.
