[June 23] Motion of the Ocean [Hannah, PM] on November 13, 2011, 04:34:06 AM With bones extended and realigned to roll long, thick, and scaly limbs to the flow of the water, Naomi was already under showing signs of gillyweed transformation, even though it was just her imitating the weed's effects as she waded and floated in a small pool surrounded by coral reef teeming and bursting with crawly, creepy, and colorful creatures of the ocean. Her wand was magically lodged in her black and decorated Rapunzel braid and another enchanted item lazily floated around her wide hips as she waited for the little blond second-year, standing a few feet away in shallower water, to get ready for a dive.Naomi had gotten up a little early, possessed by a thought to maybe see if the band of surfers were around to learn from again. They weren't half bad. But then this little guppy of a blond caught her and somehow charmed her into a dive... having Landis Morgan as an immediate relative might have had some reason as to why and how Naomi caved as well.Blue and yellow scales glinted above the water against Naomi's dark tan, as she made her way over to Hannah and poked her head above water. With water running through her gills it was easier to talk above the water, "Right, so you got gillyweed, transfiguration, or th' bubble head charm," Naomi laid back and floated in the water as she played with her webbed hands, "I wouldn't go with 'di last one, but I can transfigure most of you gilly-eed, or I can go dive for gillyweed real quick," she dunked her head under the water for a moment before she resurfaced again with a small smile, "Fresh eez always th' best." Amusement, because Naomi was flopping and lolling about - awe, because wow was Hannah ever glad she'd caught her. She'd seen how good the girl was in the water in the previous days when everyone had gone surfing. But Hannah, who could swim reasonably well from summers at the beach, had no idea how to dive nor the magical knowledge to charm herself into breathing water. Bubblehead charms were for older students. Thus, the only solution was to get herself an older student. A mixture of earnest charm and threatening pout had worked, and Hannah'd happily dragged Naomi down for a swim. Once they'd reached the water though, Naomi'd slid right in, spelling herself all scaly as she went while Hannah halted in the shallow water and just... stared. Tiny multicolored fish swarmed around her ankles as she tilted her head one way, then the other. "How'd you do that?" she wanted to know. And, "Gillyweed please, if you don't mind." She'd always wanted to try it. She knelt in the water and carefully began to braid her hair, currently in pigtails, in imitation of Naomi. Otherwise she wouldn't have any place to put her wand that didn't make her look silly. Hannah felt the stirrings of embarrassment at the idea of sticking it down the front of her pink one-piece suit, something a little kid might be able to do without caring but which she, poised on the uncomfortable brink of puberty, could not. She sank beneath the water as she watched the girl's water shadow and waited. Once Naomi was satisfied Hannah transformed the witch started to swim beyond the shallow edge of the reef and beneath the waves of the cliff again, where the ocean floor took a more dramatic plunge."An' stay close," her voice echoed like a stream through the water, as she stopped and floated in the water to turn back and look at Hannah, "We always top of th' food pyramid, but here we're a part of it." Naomi then twisted and looked around at the coral and sea life floating and swimming around her, "An 'fi we get lost we can pick out somet'in livin' over here and drag it 'long wit' us." Naomi dove and dropped into a little crevice, her purse-bag lopsidedly catching on her hips and ponytail streamlining, before they floated with the motion of the water once she rolled her body back upright and pulled her fishy self up to the rim of a barrel sponge. The girl leaned into the sponge, her eyes surveying the inside of the thing, before she leaned out to let the creature inside swim up and out of it[1]. 1. can be anything (: Skip to next post Re: [June 23] Motion of the Ocean [Hannah, PM] Reply #3 on December 01, 2011, 02:06:25 PM Hannah spluttered. "Obviously," she said with a huff, but it was too late - Naomi had already disappeared under the surface. Hannah waded forward a little more, now up to her waist, and jumped when Naomi popped up in front of her. "Er... thank you." The gillyweed was a lot slimier and gross-looking than Hannah had anticipated. Just holding it made her feel all weird, like she had a handful of cut-off, slimy rat-tails. The thought of eating it... Hannah stared down at the plant in her hands. It dripped water and generally looked really unappealing. But Naomi was waiting, and Hannah'd asked for this. She couldn't back down now. Hannah stuffed it in her mouth, made a really horrible face, and ducked underwater just as the sides of her neck began to tingle. She opened her mouth, straining in water to get rid of the terrible taste, and watched with interest as the skin on her fingers quickly merged. "An' stay close. We always top of th' food pyramid, but here we're a part of it." "Yes ma'am," she said, and scuttled after the older girl. She alternated between trying to keep up and looking around in amazement, the water clear and full of color, life, the sorts of things not generally found at Welsh beaches. Naomi slid into a strand of corral and Hannah followed, peering into holes (but not from too close) and idly chasing the little wriggling fish.Naomi ducked into a crevice; Hannah hung back. She knew they were underwater and so naturally everything was as clean as it was going to get, but didn't that...thing... look a little dirty? Hannah eyed the barrel sponge with its puckering, growth-like texture, and the older girl now sitting easily on top of it. Naomi leaned back, and a round orange fish came drifting warily out. "Oooo!" Hannah cooed in watery, distorted tones, starting to swim forward - but the fish, confronted first by one giant human-thing and now another, darted away before she could reach it. Hannah pouted, then peeked inside the barrel sponge with new-found bravery. "Are there sharks here?" she asked in frank, curious tones, looking away from the round sea form and up to Naomi's fishy face. She then kept floating until her webbed fingers pressed against the bumpy texture of black rock, before pushing off and jetting away with one kick of her finned feet. Then she she caught site of a suspicious dorsal fin, lurking behind a clump of seaweed. Her voice began to slow to a soft whisp in the water, "If anyt'ing dey'll only bump us... bite if we aren't lookin.'" With the tips of her fingers she pulled herself around the rock to only catch the tail-end of the sea creature, the flat horizontal tail-end of it."Not'ing my ma hasn't taught me how to mend," the all too nonchalant Naomi, of course, had been bit by far many things for her to even consider the shock of a first-time experience, and had bit back far too many times to consider it abnormal."If we go slow creatures won't t'ink much of us, an' maybe we'll make some pals," Naomi smiled jerked her head in the direction of the mammal that had just swam away, as she floated slowly and mischievously around the coral, hoping Hannah had caught site of the dolphin.
