Lexi stopped packing and turned to face Alice, "are you serious? We're going camping for two nights! One book will be fine! And you have to carry them to the camp site with you, so if you want a sore back, bring five books. If you don't, bring one." Lexi growled in the back of her throat and turned back to the bag, making sure everything was there.

Getting the message, she threw the other four into her closet and took the one, An Abundance of Katherines, by John Green, and threw it in to  the bag.
"Do we have it all?" She asked.

"I hope so," Lexi said, dropping the rude tone she had from before. She zipped up Alice's bag and threw it at her, laughing when Alice caught it and stumbled back wards. "Let's go," Lexi said checking her watch, "It's almost four-thirty! Time to leave!" She said walking out of Alice's room.

Alice was worried about the whole trip, but figured she would be able to get through it. So, she put on a happy face and just walked out of her room, convincing herself that everything was going to be fine.

Lexi took the stairs two at a time and waited at the bottom for Alice. When she finally got there, they yelled goodbye to her mom and headed over to Lexi's house. They got there in no time and saw Lexi's mom walk out of the door, duffel bag in hand. "Here you go Lex," she said handing her the bag. "Thanks mom, are you ready to take us?" Lexi asked.

Alice was shaking in her boots. Come on Alice. Man up. it's 2 days. in the woods. alone. With your 11 year old cousin. And you're weak. feeling more worried after her pep talk, she still walked out of the house, following Lexi.
