  It's coming!  We will have a TetraWizard Tournament at Hogwarts to start off the school year in the fall (September 1)!  Visiting characters arrive in Hogsmeade for orientation on August 1.  We are building as much information around the tournament as we can in hopes to make staying up to date super easy.

  Forum Update Planned
  
  A software update is in the works to the latest release of our forum software: SMF 2.0 Gold Release! We're very excited to have a super stable, very secure version of the software and the great new features it'll bring - not the least of which is a working drafts feature!  You can also expect a different skin.  We strive to keep the comfortable AO feel, but take advantage of new layouts available.
  
  Our plan is to be ready to upgrade before the school year begins and the Tournament commences.  Upgrade Day is a downtime day and the site will be closed until everything is ready.  But fear not - all our posts will be safe, and the c-box will be open.  Historically, we are back online in less than a day.
  
  Closer to the time, we will invite members to be on the testing team so we can double-check any glitches at a test site.  It's pretty fun just to run around a blank forum and try all the features.
  
  
  Massive Wiki Re-Organization
  
  The Absit Omen Lexicon has undergone some big time edits that deal mainly with creating better navigation - it's now much easier not only to find the information you're looking for, but to contribute your own information.  The wiki's a great feature for keeping track of all that's happened at AO these last 2.5 years.  It's like the HP Lexicon, just for our universe.  Check it out!

  Special Abilities for Foreign Students
  
  The students who have been invited to the Tetra-Wizard Tournament are the best of the very best.  As such, it is understandable that many of them will have skills and talents that go beyond the usual, some of which may show up in the form of Special Abilities!
  
  Special Abilities for Durmstrang, Salem, and Beauxbatons students will be counted separately from Hogwarts slots.  For learned special abilities, such as Legilimancy/Occlumency or Animagi, we are making two spots per learned ability available for both Beauxbatons and Salem.  According to AO Canon, Durmstrang's Oberteil students have access to more specialized training, so three spots per learned ability are open for that school.
  
  For innate special abilities, such as Metamorphmagi or Seers, two total spots are available for each of the three schools.  (For instance, one Metamorphmagus and one Seer, or two Seers, etc.)
  
  If you are interested in giving your foreign student a special ability, please check the Cast of Characters to make sure that a slot is open and then fill out the normal Special Ability Request!
